Honestly I think the worst move for our long term prospects would be to fire Silva mid-season. I would rather he signed a 5 year extension than we sacked him. We saw the immense damage a short term manager can do. Grind it out with Marco, the performances are fine, not top 4 level but not relegation either, and reassess where we are in the summer. Trust the man you've brought in to run the whole show to do that and let Brands make the decision and hire the next guy if the decision is to do that.

The alternative is bring in some kind of sit back and counter manager who will almost certainly ruin the confidence and stall the growth of actual footballers like Iwobi, Richarlison, Davies and Kean. It'll also go sideways at some point because we've spent the last 18 months pressing at a rate only matched by City, Spurs and the RS and a sit deep approach will take adjusting too. And ultimately we will either be stuck with a manager who is getting us no where near top 4 or we will have spent 6 months playing a style that won't get us there that the new guy has to erase.

Keep Silva, have faith that the bad luck can't go on all season, and take a look at where we want to go in the summer or reset the clock on what is probably at best a 5 years cycle to begin with. It's a crucial moment.

In the “long term” we’ll all be dead.

Right now it is the short term that worries me.

And at 5 p.m. today it might be worrying me a lot more innit :pint2:

It wouldn’t surprise me him or Moyes, some are already warming to the idea of Moyes. So get on with it I guess. (Personally I think we will win today 2-0)

Never thought of it like that. Jesus H

I’m feeling the same as I did 97/98 here.

It's far worse than then.

We where 2/3 years from an FA Cup win, it was £18 to attend a game and the TV and media companies had not gone fully agenda driven like now.

We are into fully blown 'Emperors New Clothes' now.

We have neither the Dock Stadium or the attractive footballing side with a competent manager to support.

I plan on living at least a few more years. It's a balancing act and I think Silva going is out of balance toward the short term side.

So do I......but right now I am more concerned about facing Luton Town in our first home game next August than where we will be in ten, twenty or even fifty years time.

And anybody that ain’t needs to wake up and smell the roses.

Nah we aren't going down. We have genuinely not been beaten badly this season aside from City. Now that doesn't mean we are playing well enough, games against Sheffiled United and Burnley shouldn't be coin flips, but they have been and we've lost the flip pretty often. It'll even out some and we will find ourselves midtable again. That should still get Silva axed but not until year's end.

Although I will say today's lineup reeks of someone without a plan who is just panicking and throwing players out randomly to hope something works. And that might be how he does reach a point that he has to go now. But I'm still not there.

Ya lost me right there.

That complacency which seems to permeate the whole club nowadays will do for us if nor checked.

And now I have just seen today’s line up and I feel like crying.

(manly tears, of course :()
