Belgium...look at their players. QF? They better in the semi.

This is the Premier League, however, not a cup competition. RM wins one cup throughout his career you may look up wiki and read the name list who won one domestic cup in England. Can you call them very good cup managers?

To win the FA Cup with Wigan beating City in the final is an outstanding achievement. Hence the should that he's a very good cup manager my mate.

Here's what I know:

Moyes holds the worst points total in a single season for 40 odd years.
Martinez holds the clubs PL era points record haul
Koeman will get us 60 odd points and have us 7th

That ^^^ is basically the position we're in records wise.

Martnez got us 5th, 1 place less than 4th which we achieved under Moyes. League position trumps points every time. This is what Bobby the great left with us (are you ready)
  • Won just four Premier League matches in 2016 and taken only nine points from his last 12 matches
  • Won just 10 league games all season - only the bottom four have a worse record
  • Conceded 3+ goals 11 times in all competitions this season
  • have conceded 3+ goals in 20 of Roberto Martinez's 113 Premier League games
  • Seven of HIS last eight victories came against teams in the bottom six
  • We have faced 121 shots in his last five games in all competitions (24+ shots per game)
  • 10 times (2016 season) we have conceded twice within six mins (seven times within four mins)
  • We lost 48 points from winning positions during Martinez's three years in charge
  • Zero points recovered from losing positions since early December 2016 (22 PL games)

And the Cherry on top of the pie

Martinez recorded Everton's worst haul - 20 points - at home in the club's 138-year history before the season's end

All that and it didn't address the elephant in the living room: Camelot. Season 2013/14....

“Don't let it be forgot, that once there was a spot, for one brief shining moment, that was known as Camelot.”

We can have our poor seasons and mediocre seasons and 7th place trophy seasons, but that season kept the beacon lit - the beacon that's lit the way in this club's history toward periods where only quality football is or can be acceptable. That torch remains lit now, but it's been placed one side. It waits for the next manager who wishes to take it in hand and lead us back to the kind of football we have been renowned for in the past. A scientific game. One that emphasises creativity over all else and matches perspiration with equal measures of inspiration.

That torch died on its arse when we recorded our worst home points haul, ever

Praise the Ronkster for giving us hope.

And 121 shots against us in 5 games, lolz everywhere David, everywhere.

Anyway amigo, I've updated my "noticeable Improvements" thread for your consideration, brings a tear to my eye to see how the Ronkster is making us great again

Booooo bobby the fraud

Tbf, you have to get further than 7th in the table to be considered making a team great again.

Let him just focus on chasing 6th for now. There's always next season for him to try and get the extra points in a season that could break our PL record total and secure that CL place. If he gets another £80M to spend on top of the £80M he's already spent I think he can give that a go.

Shame bobby couldn't achieve 4th like our previous manager, finishing 5th on a million points is irrelevant

At least he'll go down in memory for delivering us our worst home record in our beautiful history. That's something that never be beaten. Cheers bobby

Everton PL points record is 72 points. No manager of the club has got anywhere near even 70 points.

That's the bar Koeman has to get over to reach the standards set that season.

Tbf, I think this season he can beat someone like Moyes' best of 65 points. Then let's see if he can make an assault on the 72 point citadel next season.

It isn't though Dave is it?

If Koeman wins the Premier League with 71 points then he has surpassed Martinez automatically, because he's won the League where Martinez didn't

If Koeman qualifies for the Champions League on more than one occasion with less than 72 points on each occasions, he will have surpassed Martinez

League Position > Points Total when it comes to importance

Martinez got 72 points in a season where there was a massive gap between the top 7 and everyone else, so much so that 72 points only got him 5th when in a more even League it would have probably got him top 4

Once the quality of the League got better in the next two seasons, Martinez did far worse whereas Koeman has now been able to keep pace with two different clubs

72 points is not the target, beating or matching 5th place is, and there's an outside chance he can do that this season

If he gets 5th with less than 72 points this season he will have matched Martinez IMO because the League in 16/17 is of a tougher standard than it was in 13/14

Context is important Dave, it's not just about numbers, you rapscallion you

Did you care? You said 5th = 15th yourselves. Moyes had done it for 3/4 times.

Who cares how much Koeman is going to spend. Martinez does not deserve to spend those that's why he was sacked.

You do know we won stuff prior to the formation of the PL, it's meaningless what bobby got. The Ronk will have heights set of HC and HK, not that fraud. That's how history is made, certainly not by recording the worst home record points total in 138 years
