Not in the CL era mate.

Look: it's quite simple - how many manager's outside those at the so called top clubs have had a season where his team has broken through the 70 point barrier? Spurs when they weren't regarded as a top club a few seasons back and Everton in Martinez's first season.

You and the other Bobby-deniers can struggle all you like trying to avoid that, but you just end up looking ridiculous calling Martinez (last won a trophy in the last five years btw unlike Koeman a decade ago) a "fraud". You do recognise that calling him that makes you look ridiculous dont you? I know you do deep down, tbf, hence all the time spent trying to deny the record's significance.

That ^^^ gets forgotten about when Koeman betters it. Shouldn't be too long now - after all he is a £6M per year superstar manager....isn't he....?

Who gives a hack about points except you Dave? It's the league position that counts. If you have 72 points but you get 5th what does it mean? It means you are the 5th best PL team nothing more nothing less.

A domestic cup win, so? McClaren, Bruce, Laudrup and Di Matteo etc. The fraud relegated a PL mid-lower table team! All along you keep turning a blind eye on 21 wins in 75 matches, it happened in the last 2 years. If you want success look out for 95 FA Cup (yes, without relegating your team) or the 80s not an inept one who get sacked by our new main shareholder (thankfully).

Mighty large statement to make on the back of a 7th place showing so far.

The sort of thing likely to get vaulted in short order I would suggest.

Vaulted on what?? That's what his aims will be, and the club, they both want silverware. If it's not achieved then off he pops.

Anyway, he certainly won't go down in history with a massive stain hanging over his name like El Fraudo.

138 year old record broke, and not the good kind either. What a flump

Unreal assessment. Here three seasons and achieved 5th place, a European qualification, a record PL points total and got us to 2 cup SFs.

You would have to be a fan of a top four club to see that as placing a stain on any manager's name.

The fact that he gets your hackles up so much is because that first season was like an adrenaline rush, but then you couldn't get that buzz again and you turned on the person who provided it.

God help this Dutch lad when you start calling him a fat headed Schfraudo.

The way you talk about that manager anyone would think you didn't want to give him a chance in the first place...hold on....

Anyway, now you have one in that you do support and we're tearing the league up and setting records in 7th place.

138 year old record David, how proud are you and how right was I. L O L

The thing is, Martinez took over a team which finished 6th on 63 points the previous season. Not taking away anything from him in his first season, but he had a good base to work off and added 9 points and a place in the league. Sure he got us into two Semi-finals, but we didn't win any of them... The next two season were a disaster!

At this point in time, the only way we can judge Martinez vs Koeman is on what they did in their first season.
Take the position of the team they took over and how they pushed us on. And so far Koeman has improved us much more than Marinez did, given the state of the team he took over!

Been saying this. The good thing (improved by 1 league position and 9 points of a Moyes team), was undone by what happened in the 2nd and 3rd season after the clown put his ideas into the team. 21 wins in 75 matches, some deluded people ignore it and went back to their very one and only miracle season again and again, as a form of argument. MIB flashlight works and it erases their memories of the last 2 horrendous seasons. This is 1 June 2014 today is it?

I'll be glad when the first season v first season comparisons are over, although you make a fantastic point about the comparison between where Martinez and Koeman found us (which matters @mkrudden)

But when the 2nd season v 2nd season starts it's going to be a blood bath.
