How often do we win anything?

I didnt say we came close to winning anything under Martinez! Again i didnt mention him.... I know its a Martinez thread but you don't need to argue about him being rubbish because I wasn't defending him!

Yup agreed, our progress is looking good. Long way to go of course but the future looks bright.

No one needs to argue. He had a fluke first season. The stats for the two seasons after that prove that!

This. Their performance at Euro 2016 was seen as a massive failure, as was their showing at the last World Cup. Quarter finals and winning the passing isn't good enough unfortunately for the clown.

They were kind of dire to watch too. No wide play and they all looked a bit slow.

Ha Ha Ha.

really you liked them? I thought they had one good match. However they played a lot like the US national team usually does, only with better players. just force it down the middle and bully your way to goal.

I actually think Martinez is decent for them. When you have talent you can play any style competetively. And when it does work for Martinez it does look good.

It was almost like watching Real Madrid in the mid noughties, all the talent, but can't play together, they're all individuals who want to have their own headlines.

You can have your Lukaku's, Hazard's, DeBruyne's etc... but if they can't gel they'll never do anything, which is a shame, as on paper, they could be a hugely exciting team to watch. I think with Martinez' attitude to Cup Competitions, i reckon they'll certainly be a lot better than in Wilmots reign, unbelievably... they'll be less rigid

They are far from a complete team. They have a huge disadvantage at LB/RB which might be their undoing. Plus Kompany is getting injured more often than not. Probably their best bet is possession in the attacking zone to keep the pressure off that back line. Doesn't look like there is one dominant team heading into 2010 so they have a chance.

If they win the World Cup next year I would bet dollars to doughnuts Roberto will take over at Barcelona or Real Madrid.
