I do derive different emotions in football but I prefer to keep terms like "hate" reserved for people who deserve it, not people who tried to do their best for the club and failed.

John Aldridge, Suarez, Terry... actual awful people. Martinez doesn't belong in that category. He's a good guy who suffered from stubbornness and tactical nativity. He was frustrating but not even close to being worthy of my hate.

Plus that 2013/2014 season was the most enjoyable premier league season in my lifetime, so I cut him a bit of slack for that as well.

No it's called opinion. To you, he does not deserve it. To poster like me and mike, he deserves it. This utter clown belongs to the awful people category. He is not nice at all what did he think he was doing by chatting rubbish? He seriously thinks the last 6 months caused him he did nothing wrong overall in the 3 full seasons. What...is he sane...I bet not. 72 points every bloody time semi finals etc don't you have enough of this clown?

10 out of 10 for pointing out the spectacularly obvious.

You don't seem the most rational of posters tbh, I think you've got a little excited writing that last sentence or two because it makes literally no sense !

You don't seem the most rational of posters tbh. I think you need to calm down a bit and start writing coherent sentences, it might help your point come across a bit better.

I don't see there is a definiate standard of what rational means. Hating the clown can be rational for some people while praising the clown can be seen as rational for Martinez's lover.

Even I don't write coherent sentences as you have claimed, you seem to fully understand what I meant.

I have literally no idea what those last sentences meant.

I'm not trying to change your opinion, I just stated that I find your opinion a little strange... and then gave reasons why I think that.

I'm not trying to change your opinion, just giving my opinion that I find your opinion a little strange.

In response to the rubbish RM chatted in a newspaper article posted earlier today, people expressed their view in this thread. If you find it strange that's ok much like I find it strange when you believe Martinez is a nice guy.

To me it's weird...but fair enough, dont mind me. keep going.

Honestly I think the hate for Martinez comes less from him as an actual person, or even what he did, but more from the aggressive and vicious cult in his honour that was fostered during his run as manager

I've honestly never seen anything quite like it on here. There was literally nothing comparable from the Moyes Era. To me, the extreme and almost irrational hate that Martinez gets on here is a direct response to the intense deification he enjoyed amongst his followers, which ultimately isn't his fault. He was just trying to manage a football club, but had things attributed to him that just shouldn't have been

I really think the Martinez Era left some deep wounds on here, wounds that are yet to truly heal. It doesn't help that some of the most hardened followers of Martinez have been going after his successor at every turn for any small grievance, thus having the two pronged effect of not letting the anti-Martinez brigade have any real closure, whilst also fostering a desire in some people to be overly defensive when it comes to Koeman, thus in turn planting the seeds for a new cult, the Koemanista's

It really is a giant mess if I'm being honest, and very little of it actually has anything to do with Martinez himself, but rather the way people react to what he did and still does

I never had a problem with Martinez the person until he swindled us for the complete severance payout. I knew in the second year he was over his head, he was talking wham from that point on, but ok you understand he can't just come out and say I'm a completely useless divvy.

But taking the full amount when half goes to the taxman anyhow just boils my pee. For the services he provided he should have walked. However if he had negotiated a bit, say we paid 4 million less and he would have been just 2 million down, but still have been paid a lot upfront (over 2 years salary tax free) then I wouldn't be now thinking I want to use his head as a punching bag. Just a greedy little beeeeeep.
