I hope Silva is our next Martinez.
Bobby's are pretty big (brown) shoes to fill. Like you, I live in hope that Stonesy and Hatch can repeat the highs of those halcyon Martinez years, but I refuse to build my hopes up too much.However, in Capt Jags we have the on-field leadership to entertain the notion of a 'return to glory', so some furtive optimism still flickers.

Winning it would be an amazing over-achievement. SFs would be fantastic for Belgium. QFs is an acceptable stage to reach as long as it's ended by a close game against a team like Brazil.

Basically, if Belgium get past Japan as expected Roberto has reached the point where he was supposed to with a squad after one year in charge.

@Armel

In all honesty, had Martinez got Englands side of the draw (as he should have done for winning the group) it's hard not to se them in the final. They'd have a very decent chance of winning it too.

I'd like him to go a few steps further:

Not bottling fourth to some absolute carts after making up a ridiculous gap
Not bottling two semi-finals in one season

But that's just me D, yenno.
72 point season would be a start.....

The coward's way out didn't suit Roberto. Turnip Southgate's way.

I really struggle with that decision @Armel how do they this this in belg

Oh people accept that. A couple of times Dembele played on Witsel's position and he wasn't as strong defensively (one of those games being against Portugal, and Dembele was horrible in that game). Witsel is better in protecting the back three, and positionally. He isn't the most flashy player but he's useful. He's one of these players that are very much liked by managers.

The main contention point is starting Fellaini.

I think Silva's cut from the same cloth as RM and he'll go for it. This will be a breath of fresh air after Koeman and Allardyce. We can at least dream again about a season when we can get 65+ points.

Man I really hope so. Been way too many moments in the last 4 years where I utterly despised Everton and most of our players.
13/14 seems so long ago.
