Thought he did really well when he came into the side, surely that's something especially when you can look good as a defender under Martinez

Oh, don't get me wrong, I love him too. I'd seen him play two or three times for the U21's and wasn't sure if he was ready for the first team, but he's stepped up pretty seamlessly.

I'm happy just watching him at the moment tbh, but lets not get carried away !

He's good in the tackle and composed on the ball, but I think his most impressive attribute for a lad his age is his reading of the game. He knows when to nip in front of the attacker, when to stay goal side and seems to win a lot of unchallenged headers - because he's anticipated it.

Put a cracking low cross along the 6 yard line on the first half as well. Looking good so far

He had an eye for a player but just couldn't coach them the basics

Galloway lost his way a bit second half of last season, i remember watching him in a reserve game on TV he was awful,
a season away under Pulis could be huge for him but i've felt Holgate to be the real deal from the very first game were he gave a penalty away against the RS,
he dominated the game after that moment and looked to be different class.

Barnsley fan here, like to see how some of our former players are developing. Like Stonesy, Holgate didnt make a large number of appearances for us but his quality was obvious but must admit i am surprised to see him in your first team so quickly. Although like Stones he played through the age groups as a centre half, he was also introduced into the first team as a right back, i have my doubts that he will physically develop to be able to play in that position.
Interesting that Swansea are wanting to sign Alfie Mawson from us to replace Williams, think you might have missed one there! In a few years Englands back four could include Mawson, Stones and Holgate plus we still have James Bree who has always been rated as our best ever player to come from the academy, he is also playing right back but is regarded long term as a midfielder.

Think its about time you reciprocated our generosity
