Match Fixing

Yes they dive and exaggerate alot and I agree it is run poorly. I just do not think it is corrupt and there has been any bribery. It is more incapable than corrupt, I think.

The top teams have more chances in and around the box so will usually have the most penalties, the most interactions with VAR. The struggling teams have fewer chances in and around the box so will have the least interactions with VAR, but those interactions will likely be far more damaging to the end result because of their importance.
this is the mantra that is Connolly rolled out to support what is happening. I admire your desire to see the good in people, corruption is all around, in many walks of life, if it looks like a pig, smells like a pig and oinks like a pig...

What I find strange is why refs from the Greater Manchester area get given games that involve teams from Manchester, Mike Dean should not be doing any games involving Merseyside teams as well.

They could be family/friend influence and unwanted pressure going into those games that skews their performances and thinking seeing things clearly without bias.

Tierney and Kavanagh seems to be a defacto combination Mike Riley goes with, remember the penalty City got when the ball hit the side of the Wolves player, Kavanagh never saw it, Tierney deemed it a penalty on VAR even though it never touched any part of the arm on every angle.

Spurs game recently that Tierney reffed and Kavanagh did VAR, game of bizarre decisions, Kane with a challenge high with studs no where near the ball, VAR cleared it, player clearly taken down in the eyeline of Tierney yards away, goes to VAR, Kavanagh says no, doesn't even recommend Tierney to watch that penalty incident or the Kane studs high, just like the Penalty last night, that was a game that impacted City without playing, Two point swing for them.

Kavanagh did VAR In the Newcastle City game Ederson wiped out a Player, stonewall penalty and Kavanagh deems it a non penalty and goal kick, city win the game 1-0.

Kavanagh ( Ashton Under Lyme) Tierney (Wigan) are both from Greater Manchester and are always involved together coincidentally in games that impact City in any way.

Some Tweets last night when the penalty incident was trending that Kavanagh's younger brother in Stalybridge is a season ticket holder at City, if it's true then he shouldn't be doing City games.

Look.....lets call it like it is. To be polite, for the most part there is an inherent dislike of people between the cities of Liverpool and Manchester. As such, there should never be any local officials assigned to games between these four successful clubs........ ever!
I know there's logistics involved with travel etc that are considered by the powers that be but for the sake of the officials themselves, it just makes things more palatable when the inevitable big decisions are blown. This wouldn't make Saturdays call anymore acceptable or get us a point, but would eliminate any suspicions of hometown bias and allow a closer look at maybe other patterns of corruption at play which when you look at FIFA, UEFA etc and the way their perceived by some over the last few years (Qatar, Russia cough cough), we'd be naive to think isn't possibly happening to some degree in our own leagues, even if it is by the minority, or just one club. Afterall it only takes one person from one club to get to some of these officials who by the way are by far the least wealthy of all the participants on the field of play. Money talks and I'd like to know why the assigners of the officials for these games aren't getting questioned more on this??

Just like they do and have done for years in Rugby League. Again conspiracy but I feel there is a reason why these conversations on field in football are hidden.
As a rugby union fan as well as a football referee I have always said the way they referee in rugby is much better. You don't see those players surrounding the referee even though they should be able to physically intimidate him. As a referee I won't have it.

The red card Italy Ireland last weekend was exhibit a for how var should be used. He went point by point through the rules on the microphone and there couldn't be any complaint about it.

As I've posted in the thread about Chris Kavanagh, a former and highly respected referee that I know personally used to assess Kavanagh when he was officiating in lower league (Sat/Sun) footie and he assures me that Kavanagh has no allegiance to either Manchester club, and actually supports a lower league club in Yorkshire who his Grandad used to play for.
They all seem to support some lower league club in contrast to the rest of the population. Not saying it isn't true in this case but not the first time I've heard it.

“Sorry”: EPL head of refs
I guess thats that then. Will be conforting when we go down by a point and they win the league on gd!
Even if it does deny our cross park rivals it still stinks to high heaven and isnt ok!!

I’m going to play devils advocate here, and lots of you wont like it.

We are still in the prem because of match fixing and dodgy decisions going for us.....the teams the suffered didn't get an apology, and look how they suffered.

We need to stop crying and get on with it, its always happened in the game and will continue to happen no matter what system is in place.

You had to bring it up??

2 wrongs don’t make a right.

Yes, we survived relegation thanks to a Hans Segera, but :

1) That was nothing to do with Everton. They weren’t aware Grobbelaar & his bunch were taking bungs from some betting syndicate.
2) That wasn’t discovered until years later. It wasn’t anywhere near as blatant & obvious as this incident.
3) The fact this appears to be the worst decision ever made (given the time he had to look at it) and the fact he chose not to give the Ref a look, questions must be asked.

At very least Kavanagh should have been suspended pending investigation.

There’s absolutely no other explanation than Match Fixing! Anyone can see that.

Ridiculous post.

Its an error and or mess up of the process of VAR & the rules.

Bolton Wanderers got relegated instead of us, when they should have scored a goal against us earlier in that season...its the same issue as here....its a mess up, an error.

Even if we would have scored the pen.....City may have gone and scored again...nobody knows.

If it was fixed, than surely it would be fixed to help Lthe RS and make the league closer.

Beginning to think City would have been given 3points even if they hadn't have turned up. Bet it would have been given if it had been the other way around.

Not sure hans saggers was ever accused of throwing the game.

I'm glad to hear this, but there's not much else we can do. The referee involved is due to take charge of another top flight match tomorrow night, so clearly the PL don't care about maintaining standards.
I think the prem league would cover up any corruption. It’s too big to fail now

Pabbers said dodgy decisions too. Wasn’t just about Segers. Limpar took a dive for the pen. You say it was the worst decision ever made? It was bad, but ever? I’ve seen soooo many bad decisions going back over many decades, we’ve seen many many awful decisions since the inception of VAR. but this was the worst ever? Probably not even the worst involving us.
