Cause spending £17m on a young attacker from the Championship is less risky than spending it on a player who did well in the PL for a year and has played in the CL, Ligue 1 etc?

Also might be due to downpayments etc. If Bobble was to be believed about a month back, he said the initial offer we put in for KLP was very low down payment wise. Maybe Burnley are in a position where they need to accept a low fee up front and Hull weren't?

Can agree to disagree. I think we have a better player in the style of KLP already in Gordon so I'm not particularly bothered we didn't spend £20m on him.

Likewise if Burnley were to play silly buggers over Cornet I wouldn't be that bothered about going all out for him, but do think he brings something that the current squad lacks.

This is a good point. Might as well negotiate given how brassic we are. If we saved £2m, for arguments sake, that might go towards a downpayment for MGW and actually allow us to get the transfer over the line. We're clearly trying to make a little stretch a long way, and if we can get a good deal for one player the dominoes might start to fall.
