It's probably better to look at his 6 good years at Lyon rather than his one decent year at Burnley.

I know Burnley is a weird place but one season there will not taint him or his ability forever.

His ability to play LWB is certainly a plus, but I dont see him playing there much if signed, depends on how Myko kicks on I suppose, but could be an option in games we need to go at teams.

….at this stage he could be a better LWB option than Mykolenko at both ends of the pitch.

Looked great against us at Burnley. But we made Bunley look like Brazil that night. Remember he missed a sitter a week or two later. I guess if its a plan and we'd watched him and think we can make him better and he can do a job, then thats OK.

But if its a oh no who are we going to get? Then not so good. Other things to think about is. Is he does he improve us? Is he the best we can get for the money? Whenever we get linked to a player, everyone says he's rubbish. One premier league season in Burnely, bit harsh on judging him on one season. I have to say not the worst player we have been linked with recently.

His stats aren't too bad for first season in Premier League in a relegated side: 9 goals 1 assist. Played 26 Premier league matches.
Lots of experience in French League with Lyon. Played Champions League and Europa League. 25 years old.

Richarlison 10 goals and 4 assists (Two of them were likely the one that came off Gordon's heel and the one off DCL's chest) in 30 matches, in a very poor Everton Side. Not compairing hm to Richarlison as Rich is a lot more talented but simular stats last season. So replaces goals we have have just lost.

Dunno.

I heard that he's already joined the EDL and wears an "I love Nigel Farage" t shirt.

He's not such a risk at 17-18m, getting anyone who's played a season in the Prem with some goals and assists for 10m is pretty difficult these days.
Oh I know, I think £17m for this player isn’t too shabby (hopefully). I just mean in general we don’t do very well at unearthing gems any more.

Yep pretty sickening to see players we are linked with who their clubs picked up for buttons. Do wonder about our scouting dept.

He will be a forward player here. He scored 9 goals last season in a dreadful Burnley team. Having him as a back up wing back is probably an added bonus.
Plus he can also play upfront. I posted his stats last season earlier 9 goals in 26 matches not bad for any left winger in the Premier League, especially in a bottom 3 side. Richarlison got 10 in 30. Seems like a natural replacement within our budget. Still only 25 has a sell on value.

I understand the desire for hidden foreign gems but if Lampard & Thelwell are planning on using more academy players to provide the depth you can see the sense in trying to use limited transfer wage/amortisation space on players with at least some track record in England.

Getting young overseas gems into the academy is harder post #Brexit for EU players but it is still an area we can and should be better at than the string of failures in recent years. Hopefully Thelwell can get to grips with our scouting and analytics and turn this around in the next couple of years.
