If true then this suggests that finances are in an absolute dire situation and the club has been lying about being within the rules about P&L, there's no way we shouldn't be able to pay the £17.5 after getting over £50mil from Richi

There's a distinction to be made here about staying within the rules and what money we actually have in the bank.
The two are pretty much unrelated
On the one hand, we sold Richarlison on 30th June so that his sale was booked in the previous financial year and helped us minimise our losses for that year in the reporting cycles for P&S
On the other, we need physical cash to be able to make payments for transfers - that's never really been a problem before under Moshiri but it would appear that this summer we are operating on a reduced budget and we have a very finite amount of cash available to make "up front" payments on transfer deals.
That's why we may see more deals like this rumoured Cornet one. Or loans with obligations to buy.
Cash flow and ffp/p&s aren't really related. One is a real world issue which involves having enough liquid cash to pay for stuff, the other is effectively just a set of rules based on how your accounts look, which can be quite different to the actual health of your bank account

No, it would suggest we will pay them when we get the money from Juventus where we have a similar deal in place for Moise Kean.
This way we would free up the Richarlison money for other parts of the squad.
