Niang pledged his international allegiance to Senegal in 2011, despite having represented France at various levels.

“I’m 16 and I’m happy with how I ended the season, but I need to acquire more experience. Playing international football will help me to hone my skills,” Niang told Sky Sports on Monday.

“I have decided to play for Senegal because France never really gave me a chance. I consider myself to be French but I’m happy to play for my ancestral land,” he said.

Arsenal are set to take French starlet M'Baye Niang on trial, but his new coach has told him not to go.

The Gunners have made their move for the highly-rated 17-year-old forward, who is also being tracked by Newcastle and Stoke.

It is understood that Niang will link up with Arsenal this week, however, new Caen coach Patrice Garande does not believe he should be looking to leave at this point.

"What I say in relation to him is simple, he has talent - yes, does he have the potential to make a career - yes," he said.

"But is he doing the right thing for this at the moment - no."

Arsenal. Where careers go to die. Ask Perez

Hopefully this dies a horrible death and we can look at attaching players who aren't just tall and fast.

Bring me Mata Ronko

Do you trust the judgement of Koeman and Walsh ?
That is the question about this transfer.
When Leicester signed Mahrez I wonder what the reaction was from their supporters ?

They got him for buttons though, so was no great shakes if he wasnt up to scratch.

He's still only 22. We all know now how Koeman manages his players. Ruthless, but supportive if they play & work by his methods.

There's nothing to say Koeman couldn't help Niang reach his hype.

If he doesn't, we get a bench warmer who's still a big improvement over Kone/Valencia/ Niasse.

I'm very ambivalent towards this signing. On one hand, the player he's actually coming to replace isn't really Rom, Valencia or Gerry - it's actually Ishak Belfodil who was supposed to come and be our back up striker/impact sub in January and I fully expect Niang to be given this role. My concerns come with his consistency and attitude, there does seem to be an issue there.

No absolutely nothing about the lad apart from what I've read in the last 2 days... my gut says swerve my head says I know nothing about him... and who cares what I think anyway.
