Transfer Rumour M'baye Niang

I suppose it should be noted that it's only the Echo that are running this story and no other media outlets nor individual journalists, the Echo also thought we'd offered £8m for Jordan Pickford.

They're saying both Klaasen and Niang were at finch farm today so I'd say someone clocked them both. Niang really only got mentioned today.

read this:

Niang has never scored more than 5 goals in a season, and while on loan at Watford, he scored 0.1 open-play goals per 90 minutes. He averaged 3.4 unsuccessful dribbles per 90, while only shooting from inside the penalty area 0.9 times a game with the Hornets.

By all accounts, M’baye Niang has bucketfuls of talent, but has yet to put it all together. Everton cannot afford to simultaneously be ambitious domestically and in Europe while splashing the cash on what looks incredibly likely to be a high-profile bust in the vein of Oumar Niasse (who the Blues already own, by the way).

Frankly, M’Baye Niang is bad at football. Everton just rid themselves of Darron Gibson and Arouna Kone. Contrary to appearances, there’s no bad footballer quota. Everton would do well to run away from this deal as fast as possible.

Yep, I'm not saying it is or isn't happening, but multiple sources makes it more believable.

Don't understand this one.

He signed on loan for Watford late January.

If a Walsh signing, and we're moving so quickly now - why didn't we bring him in then?

Hopefully if he comes, it'll be a loan with option to buy.

I read somewhere that, as part of the deal to bring Walsh here, he was allowed to sign any player he had gone for while he was at Leicester. That is now over, maybe that's the case? Or we watched him for Watford and saw something, he liked.

Niang... Have you seen his goal record? Hello Kone's Son

Pleased we are targeting young players but this is a bad shout

I'm not surprised that Walsh and Koeman can look at Niang's immense talent and think they can be the ones to fix him and realize his vast potential. However, in my experience that almost never works out. Players with poor attitudes very rarely change their stripes. At £16 million, I don't think he'll be a horrible signing but I also don't think he'll ever become a star.

All that being said, we can use a winger with his brand of speed, strength and skill. I don't think his value will go down in the next few years so I'm not too concerned. My only issue will be if this transfer prevents us from going after a better player. At the very least, he'll provide us with something different.
