Mcfadden - still without a club

How many games have you watched since 67?? lol surely he's nowhere near top 10 efc player in 50+yrs in terms of ability - In terms of skill, he was a good player. His decision making, on the other hand, was really poor. Google any club he has been at and you will see he was poor at every club he's ever been at with flashes of decent goals.
Sorry to disagree, but the game is all about opinions, and I had countless arguments with people saying Latchford was a lazy fat ****** etc. and was useless!!!
Even now we've got 'fans' calling Lukaku's ability into question, and comparing him to Anichebe. It's my 'School of Science' educated opinion that, with a little luck on the injury front, and in his favoured position, he could have become a Goodison great. My only criticism would be his attitude sometimes working against him.
Anyone who scores at grounds like Old Trafford, WHL, Stade Francais etc must have ability, especially when he wasnt playing in a strikers role

I watched my first game at Goodison as a nipper in Dec 67. That team included Ball, Kendall, Young etc. Since then I've witnessed some of the worst and best times at EFC, and a host of great players, and I can honestly say that McFadden is among the top 10 in terms of ability I've seen playing in our team. I really can't understand the flak he receives on blue websites and from so-called fans at Goodison: he was played out of position by our clueless manager who realised his potential, but, just as with Arteta, Osman, Vic, Seamus etc. thought that sticking him out on the wing would bring out the best in him, when in reality, it just stifled his natural game.
He was forced to defend more than create and fans just slated his work rate (or lack of). If ever there was a natural No. 10, it was him. Some players should be allowed to express themselves without shackles (Barkley?) and I feel if J. Mc was playing in front of our new J. Mc and Barry, he'd be a huge success, knowinging that the water carrying was sorted.
For those who doubt his contribution to our improvement c. 05, just check out the official DVD's and witness his assists, clever link up play with Cahill, Osman and Arteta, his incredible double headed goal line clearance and of course, brave and spectacular goals with head and both feet. The lad had it all, but bad coaching and injuries dealt him a bad hand.
I wish him luck for the future as at 31 yrs, he still could have some good times left in the game.

Top 10? Jesus Christ man!

Turbo eh? any other gems from your Roget's Theasarus?

He was hyper tosh.

Beckford against Chelsea is one of my favourites ever. Took on their whole defence without once having the bakl under control. Never seen anything like it before or since.

Ha ha, bang on that. His last touch for the club too.

at least 3 touches worse than Saville's and a couple of spawny deflections. Ace.

Beckfords goal against chelsea reads something like this...

get very very lucky bounce after nearly falling into defenders and tripping over the ball
run unchallenged from half way line to keeper
nearly fluff the finish

sorry, it wasn't that great a goal
Absolutely
