I remember he went bananas one day about Stones being encouraged to “learn his trade and make his mistakes at Everton” before moving on.....I think it was in response to remarks Rio Ferdinand had named.

Merson hit the roof saying Everton are not a small team for players to be used in that way.

I can’t find the clip but it was linked here to YouTube at the time to rapturous applause by the GOT denizens.
 

In fairness I think he’s always been sound.

It’s not right to throw your arms up in the air when a non-Blue points out the obvious that every Evertonian posts on here anyway.
 
Can't blame him for what he has said, if we start playing decent attacking football he will see it differently. He is also one of the pundits that will hold his hands up and say he got it wrong. Time will tell if Theo made the right move or not.

Even if one thinks Paul is anti Everton, he is far from being the “most anti Everton pundit today” :blush:

In fact, he is not even the most anti Everton pundit at the Soccer Saturday desk.

Not with Big Nose sat beside him.

And also Charlie Nicholas....I always think he is a bit anti Everton.
 
Never heard any pundit tell me anything that your average bloke in a bar couldn’t tell you. Most of them are kopites and we get under their skin so there’s a natural resentment.

Thats cos you go the match mate. I see a lot more of him these days and also read his comments and predictions on SSN websites.

We used to always be his second team and had nothing but praise for us. Its almost the oppisite now. You may not see it but its there.

He defo is not a fan of the football being served up

to be honest, he is talking out of his backside. He should have turned us down and gone to Bournemouth? how utterly ridiculous
