Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

I remember my nan buying tubs of brawn from the old Birkenhead market which I believed were jellied pigs brains which she used to eat on toast.

I have just Googled 'brawn'. It tells me that it is meat from parts of the head of, mainly, cows and sheep but excludes the brain, eyes and ears.
Brawn-on-plate-2.webp Definitely an aquired taste.

Or even from the Wirral lol

Makes me feel nauseous just looking at that photo. Brawn jelly ?

Loads of GOT members will become vegetarian after reading this thread lol

Anyone ever tried haggis or, for the full effect, haggis neeps and tatties. Lamb's heart and lungs, mixed with oatmeal and other bits and bobs, inside a sheep's stomach. Surprisingly good, especially when you wash it down with a pint of heavy.

Not a chance mate - id skip the dinner and just have the pint. I dont think I could even watch anyone eat it knowing whats in it.

It's a mustard based pickle. Shocked you don't get it over there.
Piccalilli??? Hope thats a sauce and not an animal part - I dont think cows have a Piccalilli that'd be a bull.
Tesco and the other Brit supermarkets do it here but never actually seen a local manufacturer.

It’s a staple part of my diet.
