Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Hi if you are a regular visitor to this thread can you like it please. I just want to see who has been looking. Don't worry if you are shy and don't want to I just have too much time on my hands. I can't tell you how much all the kind words have meant to me over the last few months. When you see all the bad things that go on its refreshing that a bunch of people that have never met me have tried so hard to keep me going. Whatever will be will be but if I ever needed a reason to keep fighting you have given me one.

My best memory is oddly staying up in 1998. We were a mess and might never have got back. Whenever I watch highlights of that match I get a tingle in my spine. Another game that brings tingles to my spine home game against United in 2005 when Ferguson scored. I could feel that stadium rocking and I wasn't even there. I'll try and think of some more and post them in a bit.
Good morning, Karl and all friends here.

Nice seeing you posting again and sharing your best memories. I hope you are feeling a bit better today. You are fighter and keep us at awe with all the strength you have shown throughout this battle. xx

I feel a connection with the people in here but you've struck a chord with me. We've both been through the mill. This phase of my life has been a lot different and being able to come in here for a chat with all you lot has really been good. I love talking Everton so if ever there was a right place to be.
Messy, I'm running out of superlatives to describe my admiration for you my friend. I'd just like to say it's been an absolute pleasure to get to know you.

In an ideal world, I'd love for you, me and the gang to pop down to our local pub and chat about Everton and all kinds of other stuff.

In case you missed it, here's what I posted yesterday in response to Reedy's request to post our favourite Everton moments for you to read.

So many favourite moments. Too many to list, as I was fortunate enough to watch us winning stuff in the 80s.

I think no match quite covers the roller coaster of emotions that Everton put us through than the Wimbledon game in '94. 2-0 down, seemingly heading for relegation, only to win 3-2 in the dying minutes. From despair to relief to elation all in one match. So Everton.

My first match as a kid was special. September 1973 and we beat Bobby Robson's Ipswich 3-0. I still remember walking up the steps and getting tingles seeing Goodison for the first time. We were stood on the terraces and the atmosphere, the whole experience was a real assault on the senses. Remember it like it was yesterday.
Hope you're feeling more comfortable today, mate. Keep fighting. You're never far from my thoughts. X

Going back to our conversation yesterday about music and emotions. Nimrod. Gets me every time.

Messy, Got my PCR test results this morning by email - Negative. I was delighted, but only about 1% as delighted as I was to read your post.

Just got to work out now where the various symptoms are coming from!
Yay for negative results. Now that you know is not covid you can breathe relief. Now the other answer we need is: are you feeling a bit better?

Yes mate. Like a bit of classical. Barber's Adagio for Strings from The Elephant Man gets me, too.

The older I get I seem to get moved to tears by more and more things. Sometimes completely unexpectedly. I cried watching Paddington 2 FFS!
I’ve to admit I’ve always been a cry baby, it is not with age that this has happened. I tear for songs, at the news, watching movies, when reading posts here, even when I cut onions lol

Yes Sassy, a big relief but still don't feel right. Just have to arrange another 3 week wait for a telephone appointment!
I’m sorry to hear that you still don’t feel good and I’m even sorry that you have to wait 3 weeks for a phone appointment :( How can that be? By then a person is already fully recovered, or has gotten way worse without the needed treatment, so I’m definitely wishing you the former one. Please take care of yourself @Methuselah xx

I love dogs mate. Eight Below and Marley & Me have me blubbing like a baby. ?
I love dogs too mate. Film wise, I tend to well up with family related stuff.

I remember watching a film called Lion on Netflix (don't think it's on there any more) about an Indian boy who gets separated from his family aged about 5. It's a true story and he tracks them down as a grown up. When he finally met up with his mum and sister after all those years, and knowing it's true, I was in bits.

They also showed photos of the real life people at the end, too. That set me off again.

Just shows you're not afraid to express your emotions Sassy.

Keep on crying ?
Awe, thanks for the encouragement ?

I’m definitely not afraid of expressing my emotions, as some of you may have noticed here lol but I’m indeed a very emotional person and I’m not afraid of admitting it. I believe it makes it easier connecting to people and being more empathetic to other’s emotions too.

Behave !! ??
Obviously he left out you like up the junction, ooh matron!
Sorry I was distracted there, good afternoon Messy and the gang.
Messy great to see you're back on form.
Fred, you quite rightly mentioned Messy being an inspiration on here, let me tell you mate you're not doing a bad job yourself.
Lazy Sunday for me today, you all have a pleasant day.

It's funny that we are both touched by relegation deciders. I was 12 in 94 and 16 in 98 so my understanding was different. Also because I'm not from the area and it wasn't live I wasn't quite as emotionally involved. It was just score flashes. Also in that 4 years football grew massively so it was everywhere. I hope none of us ever have to go through that again. Neither of them teams were horrendous there was just a deep rot in the club. 98 the problem was Howard could never settle on a team or system and he had journey men in amongst decent players. Also a very bad injury list. It was a shame that my main memory of him is that season as I am too young to remember spell 1. I often wonder what would have happened if he had bought Hutchison at the start of that season as I think him and Speed would have been an excellent partnership. He also let Unsworth go and I know he was much derided on here but I think him and Bilic would have worked well together. I will always be grateful that goal line technology didn't exist in them days.
