Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

She has no interest in football despite her dad being on Evertons books ( sadly didn't get to play a first team match).
Clearly this scarred him because he used to take great pride in telling me that he went to watch Everton 1 weekend and the following went to watch the RS - bizarre!
It's probably why Mrs J can't understand my hatred of the RS.
I must confess, in the safe haven of this thread, that I don’t subscribe to the Liverpool hatred, either.

Probably to do with the fact that my two brothers, lifelong best friend, and now - somehow - my two sons are reds.

Of course, I don’t love seeing them do well while we are so rubbish, but I don’t put it down to conspiracy, PEDs, etc.

I like this take!

I should add that, since I have had kids, we've resolved that any "football" cities we visit, we should pick up a shirt/scarf, etc from. COVID derailed us immediately after we did an Ajax stadium tour, but we got back on the horse last year with a trip to Sondeborg, home of the world-renowned SonderjyskE (Danish second division, if you were wondering...).

What I love about that is the kids still look out for their results with me on occasion. Ajax are far from underdogs, but not quite the all-conquering force they were.

Off to Rome in Feb, so I will be interested to see which club the kids decide to back, there!
We are going to Rome in a couple of weeks. Lazio play Milan while we are there. Would love to get tickets for that. I've been keeping watch on their website.

I know there is a few of us older folk that post in here, is anyone up to date on the UK pension rules
I'm was on a Brits x pats page, and I did read I can buy back my pension for £159 each year for level 2

I only have 15 years at the moment, it's sounds like a no brainer to top up my lost years, if that's all it is
to buy it back,
TIA
You can make contributions towards your state pension for missing years, not sure about buying it back. These may help.

Good morning friends. As this is our safe space can I ask when is homicide justifiable? As you know I take Mr F to work every day at around 6.30 am. I'm not at my best at that time of the morning and would prefer the journey to be undertaken in total silence. However Mr F chats away and tells me about what he's going to do in work. I belive today is emptying dog poo bins in Barnard Castle and attending to a fly tip. I don't actually speak, a few well- placed uh-huhs and mmms ( think 14 year old boy responses) keeps him happy.

Today however he mostly talked about Newcastle United. Now in the 30 odd years I have known Mr F he has been to St James Park twice. Once last year when, at my instigation, we went to the Everton match. The previous time, Kevin Sheedy was playing for them! Suddenly he's super fan. Never stopped this morning. Just look at where we were last season. All you need is a good run of results and so on and so forth. I got a potted history of the local lad who scored last night and by the time we arrived at work I was wondering if I could perhaps beat him to death with the plastic, half empty de-icer bottle.
Have a lovely day?
My step father was worse .he never ever went to a match but 15 minutes after the pink echo arrived he parroted all the infinite details of how good Liverpool had played ,even thought they were then in no mans land.I truly hated him at those times .I was spending so much going home and away and he spent 3d on the pink.

I don't know much but the bits that concern me is that there will soon be no annual increase if you live outside of the UK with some exceptions and Canada is not one as far as I remember ,the EU is a no no although Turkey is fine which is strange as all UK passport holders have to pay each and every time they arrive there ,I tried it out when I arrived from Finland but they singled me out and sent me through another customs gate .Wierdly Chile is another that will get the annual increase !

Good morning all off to the quacks today as I have been getting a bit light headed and when I visited Specsavers I was assured that my eyes were fine and nothing they could see would contribute to the problem .It is not my BP so off to see what it might be ,it is not a great problem as it last seconds but I need to show my lastest BP ( Twice every morning and night for a week ) and he will taze the skin on my forehead if needed to stop skin cancer . The upside is we can shop in Espoo for things that we cannot find up here . I hope everyone slept well and have a fine day .COYB

Good luck with BP.
About 6 months ago it was discovered that I had extraordinarily high BP.
They messed around with my meds and eventually/ quite recently got it right but yes I've been self monitoring.
My cardiologist actually asked me to take 12 consecutive readings 3 minutes apart twice a day every day of the week. I did that for 3 months , what a pain.
I'm now down to once a week. Good luck.

Morning all,

Thought with my elbow injury that I had played my last game of ping pong weeks ago but like Everton it pulls you back in.

The team I captain is too of the League and we've been using subs from the division below to fill in for me. We have still been winning even though the subs lose but our lead has been whittled away.

Last night we played 2nd in the League , a bit of a title decider with just 5 games to go. No one else was available so I thought what the hell and played.

Despite my age I am very quick around the table and look to hit the ball as hard as possible. No problem with the mobility but the hitting was very painful and that and moving 20 tonnes of gravel to do the driveway over the summer was the cause of the elbow injury.

So for the 1st time in almost 50 years of playing I went back from the table and defended ,just trying to return the ball and keep it in play. Remarkably it worked and I won all my games and we thrashed the opponents ( ironically for me called Argyle) 7-3.

Today the arm is very stiff but doesn't hurt too much which is just as well as Mrs J is insisting that we start washing the paintwork ahead of a state visit from my gay cousin and his partner ahead of mum's 95th birthday next week

Oh well at least I won't be wasting my time on the internet.

Have a lovely day y'all.

Watching both teams was pretty common back in the day . You didn’t really get travelling fans , apart from the occasional visitors from wales & Ireland which was usually to do with family and in some cases a legacy of the evacuees and travelling around to away games particularly distant ones wasn’t easy so they’d alternate .

My dad was a staunch blue but would do both games .

Morning all, bit like Emergency ward 10 (one for the oldies) in here this morning. I’m off to the hospital this afternoon for ophthalmology appointment which was postponed last August. Good luck at the doc’s this afternoon @blue1948 . A few years ago Mr G. had to wear a heart/bp monitor for 48 hours, then return it the cardiology department. When he went for follow up appointment to be told they had lost the monitor and therefore the results! He never did repeat the monitoring as there wasn’t another machine available. He was told people often “forget” to return them.
Great to hear that you are back at the table tennis table @jazzy and not suffering too many after effects, don’t forget to hoover the red carpet lol
Have a good day, all.?
