Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

A right snow fall here to enjoy from inside the house but not so fun when I had to drive in it. Shop run successfully negotiated and I’m still laughing at the Assistant’s comment;

‘Every child in the county is praying for the snow to keep on and the schools be shut in the morning’.

Never a truer word spoken.
Most of Cornwall has had a rare covering of snow over the last couple of days and the locals are having a fine time. Not by me though. Not even any frost to be had. Shouldn't complain really.

Anyway, the brain scan results came back and my wife is now formally diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. At least we now know and can plan accordingly. She is still healthy and happy and that’s all that counts…..
Sorry to hear that Pete. But modern medication is very good at slowing down the process. My brother in law was diagnosed around 4 years ago. I facetime my sister about once a month and Peter (another one lol) frequently joins in the conversation and is great. I'm always half expecting him to show some sign of deterioration but he knows exactly what's going on. I keep on hoping he forgets that he supports the other lot.lol

Good morning all on this mild day here in Finland I hope all are well and had a good night . My project for the weekend is to make a butter chicken ,we have heard it mentioned so many times .It is not available here ready made to try so I will make it if I can find a couple of different spices . Looking on you tube it seems it is also mahkanwala which I used to get in a jar from Makro . The ingredient I might not get is chaat masala and the recipe asks from a few bits I have to search hard for .
Have a great day all.COYB
I've heard it helps if you put some butter in Blue.;)

Morning guys. Well my hangover wasn't quite as bad as I was expecting. Sometimes it can last for a few days but yesterday I was fine and even did lot's of housework, I also slotted quite easily back into my daily exercise routine.

This morning I got a pleasant surprise. I think most of you will know that, whilst not being on a strict diet setting myself targets, I am nevertheless attempting to lose weight and get a bit healthier generally. I last weighed myself a couple of days after Christmas, and was a tad disappointed that I'd only lost a pound or two over the preceding 3/4 weeks. But staying positive I focused on the fact that I was still heading in the right direction and at least was not piling the pounds back on. Well it seems I may have picked a particularly bad day to weigh myself as, this morning, my weight shows I've lost half a stone since the beginning of December, and one stone and three pounds since I returned from my cruise in September.

TBH I'm not completely surprised as I could tell from the way my clothes were fitting, and in my general fitness levels, that I'd lost weight. I'd also gone in an extra notch on my belt which is always a good sign. I'm now on notch 5 rather than notch 1. I'll be needing a new belt soon. lol Actually, the one downside to this is that clothes I was struggling to squeeze into 18 months ago are now too big and I'll need a new wardrobe if I carry on much longer. Total weight loss since Cal died is now three stone four pounds.

Anyway I'm still not reading or watching anything Everton related and I'm sure my mood is a lot better for it. I can highly recommend.

It’ll take a while for you to process that mate but you seem to have a good network around you for support. One of those times as well you have to place your faith in modern medicine.

Well done mate! Be very proud of that.

The weight loss bit I mean, not the ostrich approach to Everton

Snow is all fine and dandy if you are inside looking out at it.
It happens so rarely down here AT that, when it does, everyone makes the most of it. the downside is that the geology here makes the roads and pathways treacherous in icy conditions. Good job it happens so rarely. Last time it snowed was the beast from the east 5 years ago and i think the time before that was over 10 years ago.

Yeah it can be no laughing matter.

Neither the UK nor Ireland seem to be able to function with any sort of decent snowfall which is strange given Iceland ain’t that far away.

I'm not burying my head mate. Far from it, I fully appreciate the predicament we're in. But I'm also acutely aware that there is not the foggiest that I personally can do to resolve the situation, and I refuse to beat myself up about it. The best way to avoid getting myself upset, which will undoubtedly happen, is to avoid the subject. Discussion closed.lol

I wish I could be the same mate but it is impacting me both physically and mentally. Sport shouldn’t do this to a Gentleman.

I intend to read more Stephen King to take my mind elsewhere.

Good afternoon all. Bit of a ' mare this morning taking Mr F to work. He chatted happily about his work day to come. I knew I needed diesel, the light came on yesterday, so pulled into the garage near his work. Mr F got out, went into the shop to buy a sandwich and I proceeded to get diesel. The bloody cap lock was frozen solid! Couldn't budge it. Saw Mr F leaving shop and shouted over for help. He came back, poked around with the key a bit, gave up and went on his way. Leaving me, with no coat, sandals on because what's the point I'm only dropping him off, to fend for myself. Managed to get home and eventually at about 11am the lock defrosted. I then had to go to the motorway services very close to our house to buy enough diesel at an inflated price to get me to a reasonably priced garage. If opu ever pass J61 on the A1, wave to me??!

I have learned lots of things from this experience most notably 1) don't wait until the last minute to get fuel 2) always dress appropriately wherever you are going.
Other than that early morning drama today has been very quiet.
I was only talking about this with my mate the other day. I borrowed my wife’s car while mine is in the garage and first thing I had to do was fill it up. The only people I know who behave that way are ladies.

I know correlation doesn’t imply causation, but…

Bloody hell mate, that’s awful. I’m so sorry.

Glad to hear she’s healthy and happy now. Long may that continue.

Congratulations mate, that’s a great result.

Ah. But my Cal was obsessive about keeping her tank topped up and rarely let it go below half full, so that puts a dent in that argument?

She had been known to put unleaded in her diesel engine, but best not go there.
