Last day in Rome today. We fly home tomorrow lunchtime. Didn't really have any plans so went to see the Trevi Fountain. Just wow! Another jaw dropping piece of architecture. As we sat admiring the fountain and watching folk taking selfies beside it, one young man took it to a new level. After the pic with his girlfriend, he dropped down on one knee, produced a box containing an engagement ring and proposed to him. She burst into tears and hugged him so I assume that was a yes. The tourists around them, including us, cheered and they went on their way. How very romantic.
I have become fully embedded in the Roman method of crossing the road. Do not wait patiently at a zebra crossing for the traffic to stop. It won't. Step confidently onto the crossing in a smallish gap and make them stop!
I've loved Rome - pleasantly surprised how reasonable it is. Especially if you eat pizza or pasta. Which is no hardship. ?

I love Rome, used to get there with business or holiday, but I couldn’t stand all the graffiti on the buildings which I found depressing tbh. I don’t really like London but for all it’s faults it is remarkably clean……Hope you enjoyed the break…..

Yes we did but the difference from a tikka masala would need the two dishes side by side to say which we like better .I will make it again .

I haven't been watching much today. I've been on this forum most of the time, hoping our team can figure out a way forward!

Good morning. At the airport waiting to come home. After our tea last night we had a walk back to St Peter's Square. It did not disappoint. I'm slightly ill at ease at the number of homeless people sleeping rough in and around the Square. It doesn't reconcile easily with the Catholic ethos or the Gospels. Anyway here's a few night time.pics.
