I turn 40 later this year, which probably explains why all the new bedding plus new mattress I’ve treated myself to arriving yesterday day was one of the most exciting days I’ve had in ages lol

New duvet, goose feather pillows to go with the fleece bedding set I got for Christmas.
The new mattress is a 24inch deep, hybrid, air springs topped with comfort gel and memory foam.
My god, haven’t had a sleep like that in years…

Is this my life now? Getting all excited about new furniture? It started a few years back when I realised socks & a new pair of slippers were a great Christmas present… now this!

It's been all go today. Went to the supermarket this morning and when I got back went around to the neighbours for coffee and was there for more than 2 hours. That's more excitement than I've had in the rest of the month combined.

Haven't done a supermarket shop since early December so was running short of essentials, particularly washing machine tablets. I was on the verge of putting an urgent request in to H for some knickers. Anyway it was the son who took me and it was good to catch up with him for a chat. His mum and dad are away on another cruise at the beginning of March so I may get him around for a curry and a few beers. He's a good kid.

The neighbour, despite the warnings yesterday, was in good form. I think I bring out the best in him. But there was a definite atmosphere when the brother showed his face to say hello. The cruise wasn't quite the disaster I had pictured, or maybe he was just in a better mood today. Anyway, Michelle really enjoyed it and went para-gliding in Rio. Good on her. I bet you screamed I said to her. No I didn't actually was the reply. Anyway, Rob showed me a video he had on his phone and she must have screamed for the first 30 seconds.

You only had to ask lol

Well I always do breakfast at weekends and then I am allowed a little flirtation with culinary duties in the evenings . Nice to have her back walking again and I enjoy her food perhaps more than the reverse.

Last day in Rome today. We fly home tomorrow lunchtime. Didn't really have any plans so went to see the Trevi Fountain. Just wow! Another jaw dropping piece of architecture. As we sat admiring the fountain and watching folk taking selfies beside it, one young man took it to a new level. After the pic with his girlfriend, he dropped down on one knee, produced a box containing an engagement ring and proposed to him. She burst into tears and hugged him so I assume that was a yes. The tourists around them, including us, cheered and they went on their way. How very romantic.
I have become fully embedded in the Roman method of crossing the road. Do not wait patiently at a zebra crossing for the traffic to stop. It won't. Step confidently onto the crossing in a smallish gap and make them stop!
I've loved Rome - pleasantly surprised how reasonable it is. Especially if you eat pizza or pasta. Which is no hardship. ?
