Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Hi All!

I haven't been on here as much lately because I have been at the stable 3-5 hours a day. My horse is good, but per the Vet, I have to rinse the wound every day and apply more ointment. So the stable owner helps me with that and I help her with stuff around the stable. I spent 4 hours over 2 days de-tangling her horse's braided tail that looked like one huge dreadlock! lol I honestly didn't know if it could be undone, but I did it!

Another day I spend part of it babysitting Jeffrey the goat who escaped with his horse friend and were temporarily at the stable until the owner could get them after work. Let's just say we couldn't find a pen that would hold Jeffrey. Apparently, he knows how to army crawl! lol

I have a break today, but back to the grind tomorrow! I hope everyone has a wonderful day/evening!

He's currently at United.
Nice one.

I have a lad in the Armagh academy and even though amateur it’s ruthless. Outside of group training he has personal training programmes and even diet sheets. At all times I reinforce you have to enjoy your football and enjoy meeting new mates. It sounds twee but I’m sure you get it.

Sounds like a busy time. Hope the horse recovers properly…..

I like the sound of Jeffrey.

Obviously a Toffee.

Oh, certainly. The whole process is ruthless, and sadly I think a lot of parents actually do not help with how they raise expectations and add pressure.

In fact, I don't think - I know. Each week, I see parents of other child exacerbating the fear of being dropped and this whole thing of being a 'failure'.

They're trying to shout advice, interfering with training and afterwards, if they perceive they haven't done well, there's the inevitable pep talk. It doesn't help.

Our boy spent a few weeks at the RS and all we said to him all along was for him to enjoy himself and learn from it - no talk of being on trial or any dates.

When he was let go, he was fine with it because it wasn't made to be something bigger than it was. We're doing the same now with United.

I have no expectations that he'll end up a professional footballer; instead, I just want him to have fun and learn.

My club is one of the most successful in Ireland and by course we always have senior county players. They are always good at telling younger academy players that if it doesn’t work out, you have a club to go back and represent. If you keep performing then County will come back for you. It’s a great motivational message as it’s true.

Different sport though. The money in football changes it all. Gaelic’s elite heroes still have day jobs whereas football elite is stupid wealth. No surprise that many parents see the cash cow and forget that it’s just a kid finding his way.
