Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Very sorry to hear about the passing of your Mother-in-Law. I will pray for you and your family @Joey66

I'm happy your Wife and Son were uninjured in the accident! When things like that happen I often think it was God's way of preventing them from being involved in a worse accident down the road, highway, etc. @peteblue

Thanks for checking in @Terrarian ! I believe things will be getting better for you soon!

@blue1948 I thought your Wholewheat buns looked good! That's too bad they didn't taste well. With all of your other food successes, you and your wife have us all beat in the Chef department I think :)
I am not so sure about the food compliment but will take it and run ,so thank you for that .We have no children together ,in fact my wife doesn't have any ,so food is the thing that brings us joy as we are of the same mind over most ingredients ,which makes it easier to choose recipes .

good morning all on this mild winter's day here in Hyvinkää. I hope all are well and had a great sleep .It is such a shame about Turkey/Syrian and certainly Ukraine .
I am lucky enough to have never visited anywhere with evidence of a catastrophe ,I did visit Kamala bay in Phuket just a few years after the sunami but it was back to normal enough for us not to see the destruction and chaos that they had endured ,just a memorial plaque .

A bit of Finnish news ,I don't know if I have mentioned this but Finland has one national paper with regional variations for ads ,it also has two other smaller papers called in English "Evening paper" and "Evening message " that both come out in the morning! Anyway I digress ,the press here is reliable and people nearly always act on what they publish because they trust them, for example if they show that there are mushrooms in Hyvinkää area then all and sundry will start foraging because it will be accurate .
So this morning one of the smaller ones ran an arcticle saying "It is good to fart for your health's sake as keeping them in can ultimately result in them being produced from the mouth .I fear that this is the trap door opening for everyone to break wind whenever ,wherever .I fear for my lungs .
On another matter ,a friend has been in rehab because he went off the road and another friend told him it was because of the amount of booze he consumes so he has been in for weeks and is allowed out at weekends .
He told us this morning that they have discovered that booze was not the cause and that it might be neurological or a heart problem and are doing tests ,the reason I mention it is because as a gamekeeper he has a stock of guns which they have confiscated and have took away his driving licence .No stone left unturned comes to mind .

Been playing catch up on the Coffee Shop this week but up to speed now. Hope Mrs Pete is content following the drama and your son is now able to laugh it off.

Difficult time for you now and I hope you you just keep on keeping on mate.

We are polar opposites in our politics but I have always appreciated the respect shown to me and I hope reciprocated.
A bit late but here is the winterscape :-1676118943338.webp

Yes ,we went for a walk it was just below 0° but the sun felt warmer which happens at this time of year ,clear crisp air , no noise it is something everyone should experience at least once .Sure you get the same in the alps etc.
Complete silence would be lovely, no noise pollution. I don’t suppose you have much in the way of light pollution either, your night skies must be stunning. Great pics by the way.

Yes we have great skies at night when there are no clouds ,we do see a haze of light from the town which is about 10kms as the crow flies ,if they flew at night ! Sadly the skies have been cloudy and full of snow lately but soon they will be clear ,at this time of year clear skies mean very cold temperatures .
In the summer we have long days so not much darkness I am afraid and so hard to get a good view of the constellations .We also have trouble seeing Sirius as it just gets to just above the horizon and with the trees around you have to get a good vantage point .
On the quietness ,I was once painting the outside of the house at about 9am on a Sunday ,t was so quiet I could hear my heartbeat ,not the nicest experience when it first happened .

The quietness and place to yourself is the best thing about an early morning walk. I nearly resent seeing other people just out and about doing their thing ?

Thoroughly enjoyed the rugby and delighted to see us get over the line. Not that I understand it really but I’m happy to cheer for the green jersey. It’s been a good day starting with my lad winning his match this morning and an evening of movies and Indian takeout ahead.

On a different note, I have recently ordered some Chinese food supplies on-line that I can't get locally. In fact, one of the items i can't even find on my trips up to Liverpool and it's something I use a lot. Just had an email saying it's been delivered. Ermm. No it hasn't.

I rarely order stuff on line. This is probably why.
