Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Why so? It surely must have lots of redeeming features if you call it home.
It was in one of those online polls. Peterborough regularly features as one of the worst places, it came top three years in a row. I think it’s undeserved, there are worse but on the other hand there are much better. I’m P’boro born and bred and couldn’t envisage living anywhere else. My mum’s family are from the area of Peterborough where I still live, as far back as the 1750’s so our feet are firmly planted in the soil. My Dad wanted to emigrate to Canada but Mum said if he went, he went without her so we stayed.

Back from my day out. Had a lovely lunch that the neighbours paid for as a treat. Settling down to a quiet night in front of the telly and maybe a Margarita or two. I've had a good day.

As promised a couple of pics of St Michael's Mount, the second taken from Penzance promenade. As you can see it's a bit choppy?

Beautiful pics!!

I always wanted to visit Tintagel because I am a HUGE fan of the King Arthur legend! I've read many books on the subject.

Based on your pics, Cornwall offers much more than just King Arthur sites! :)

Tintagel has become very commercialised for that very reason V. The castle ruins are spectacular though, set on an island that you can now reach via a metal footbridge. Back in my day you had to climb down and back up to get to it. Legend has it that it was the home of Luther Pendragon and that King Arthur was conceived there. Nearby Dozmary Pool is where the Lady of the Lake lives, so it's all going on down here.lol

But there are many other spectacular sights down here though. Check out St Michael's Mount, The Minack theatre, St Ives, Kynance Cove, Porthcurno, the church at St Just in Roseland, just some of my favourite Places. There are over 600 medieval churches here, all of them different, dozens of great estates with amazing gardens, and the west of the county is littered with the ruins of historic engine houses from the mining heritage. There are dozens of quaint fishing villages, over 300 beaches, plus of course the most amazing coastline.

It's a magical place V. ;)

Climb down and back up?? Yikes! I've seen some photos of the castle and that trip would not be for the faint of heart! lol But I'm sure it was worth it!!

That's fascinating about Dozmary Pool! I hadn't heard that part of the legend was also in Cornwall.

I'll look up the other places you mentioned. I'm an English history buff in general, so all of those things are cool to me! :)

Sounds like quite a project. Look forward to seeing the pics.
