Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Morning all. Hello @messymascot Hope you can catch a bit of the game tonight. Thinking of you.
The supplies have been purchased, beer, wine, rum if it gets desperate.... Thinking about a takeaway as well. Deciding which top to wear tonight. My Funes Mori green and orange 3rd kit (Sorry!)fell out of the wardrobe this morning. Maybe I should put that one on.
In other news meeting some of my work chums for a very civilised afternoon tea in about half an hour. Class before the carnage!

It's the one place I love more than the Caribbean.
From Cochin in the south to Shimla in the North is is fascinating, interesting and eye opening.
I didn't really like the big cities like Mumbai and Delhi but all part of the crazy madness that sums up India.

I have been watching the "real marigold hotel " series and despite my lovely wife's feelings I would love to go to one of the cities they were filmed but if we go it will probably be Kerala or Sri Lanka as our friends wanted to meet us in the Andamans but it is so expensive from here we had to say no.

I had real misgivings about going but my wife was insistent.

Both Sri Lanka and Kerala are gorgeous.

Goa was stunning 30 years ago but is now , or at least it was prior to the pandemic , overrun with tourists.

Kerala is a very gentle introduction to India. It has some of the best beaches in India. Try the train journey to Karnataka - it's an experience never to be forgotten.

If you go you will see heart breaking poverty and mind boggling wealth but what underpins everything is the spirit and happiness of the people.

The sights , the smells , the scenery just has to be seen to be believed. Even places like the Taj Mahal that you have seen thousands of time on TV and in pictures will bring you to tears when you see them first hand.

I have two unfulfilled ambitions. Both involve cricket. One is to watch the West Indies play a Test match in the Caribbean and the other is to watch a cricket match in India. The atmosphere is mental. I would love to experience it.

Both on my bucket list too amigo.

Been to the ground in Antigua where Lara made the world record and to the new ( and soulless ) Sir Viv Richards ground

England play their 1st ODI when we are arriving in Barbados but sadly the timings just don't work.

Played some street cricket in India and that was great fun.

An IPL game would be an unreal atmosphere.

We were in Jamaica in Jan 2018- the West Indies were playing away at the time!
 
Evening all, bit late on today. Just thought I'd pop in to wish everyone well for what could be another painful experience watching the Blues against the red vermin.

I would love us to beat them for our pal Messy, but if we lose heavily, it won't exactly be a surprise and it's just a game. There are much more important things in life, as this thread has shown in so many ways.

@messymascot Hope they're keeping you comfortable and you're getting lots of visitors to keep your spirits up.

@Reedy1979 I know it's a tough time for you, seeing your mate suffer, but if you do log in it would good to have an update on how Karl's doing.

Great to hear from you messy. I don't post much here but I've been following your thread and thinking about you. Hope the game is good tonight and we can get a result!

If any post ever screamed “be careful what you wish for”, this is it!!

Mercifully I’ve got a class tonight so I’ll be missing the bulk of the match. I’ll leave the questionable honour of updating you to others.

Of course, I’ll keep my fingers crossed that our ragtag bunch surprise us all…
