It was bright and sunny( ISH ) here G so I put the washing out. Literally 2 minutes later if started chucking it down. Well it's only a shower and there's sun later so it's staying out!Morning all, bright and breezy here and agree @jazzy hopefully the hot weather will stay away. Couple of years ago my friend brought me a present - book called F****ing Brilliant, her language is getting terrible in her old age lol . Anyway it’s a sort of five year diary where you jot down a thought for each day. Last year the temperature on 17th was 32 and on 19th it was 40. Hopefully nothing like that this year. Mr G off painting today so I’m off up town on my own.
Have a good day,all.
I went to Hoylake on Saturday, the level crossing at the station is going to be out of action for the duration to make it easier for people to move around, hence no trains for the last stop. There’s also a temporary bridge over the road by the station for the same purpose.Morning everyone,
@Terrarian please let's us have a short post just to let us know that you and Daisy are ok.
Ok morning everyone. Start of another Ashes and Open week but not sure that the weather got the memo.
Been to the last 2 Opens at Hoylake but not going to this one. Just saw a bizarre announcement that buses will replace trains between West Kirby and Hoylake , absolutely mad.
Anyway got to wait in for a delivery this morning so no particular plans but weather improving this afternoon so I'm sure I will be gardening at some point. I know the weather's unsettled but honestly I wouldn't want those 40 degree temperatures in Europe as a gift.
Well , whatever you do I hope you have a great day.
Could have been involved in the marshalling this week, but the thought of getting over there from Walton everyday put me offI went to Hoylake on Saturday, the level crossing at the station is going to be out of action for the duration to make it easier for people to move around, hence no trains for the last stop. There are trains every 10 minutes from Central but they’ll be chocker I suppose. It’s walking distance for me (unless it’s raining).Could have been involved in the marshalling this week, but the thought of getting over there from Walton everyday put me off
Would still be an hour each way at least. Getting lazy in my old age I suppose and my pass doesn’t work until after 9:30There are trains every 10 minutes from Central but they’ll be chocker I suppose. It’s walking distance for me (unless it’s raining).
I was going to Manchester airport last week and was annoyed at having to buy a single to Lime st at 9:00 , even with a senior railcard.Would still be an hour each way at least. Getting lazy in my old age I suppose and my pass doesn’t work until after 9:30
I was there yesterday and they’ve put a covering over the lines to get people in to the course, hence why trains simply can’t get to to West Kirkby.I went to Hoylake on Saturday, the level crossing at the station is going to be out of action for the duration to make it easier for people to move around, hence no trains for the last stop. To be honest I don’t know where the entrances are, we were on holiday the first time the championship came back and avoided it last time. I was there on Saturday to go the pub with my wife and two out of three sons for a few birthday pints. I might walk down there in the week for a nose around.I was there yesterday and they’ve put a covering over the lines to get people in to the course, hence why trains simply can’t get to to West Kirkby.
We’re going back this week, but the plan is to get off the train and walk towards West Kirkby station and enter the course as a quieter gate.
The main entrance is going to be crazy and then trying to get across the course will be a real hassle. On a different note, the course looks great.
Main entrance is on Moels Drive opposite Morpeth Road. If you know where Pinforth Lane is, there’s an entrance there, with more on Stanley Road*.To be honest I don’t know where the entrances are, we were on holiday the first time the championship came back and avoided it last time. Despite living in Meols for 28 years I had to look them up , I know where you mean nowMain entrance is on Moels Drive opposite Morpeth Road. If you know where Pinforth Lane is, there’s an entrance there, with more on Stanley Road*.
It’s a big operation this year due to the numbers and the concern of the oil protesters: something like LOTS of marshalls.
