Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

It’s on the sunset side of the island and has a tiny harbour where a few small boats take people round to the shipwreck beach - navaggio. I can’t remember a taverna to be honest but that’s probably because after the car journey down and the boat to the beach I’ve not had much of an appetite! There are a couple of other similar roads with tavernas - maybe you’re thinking of Porto limnionas or Porto rouxa- both lovely and you get in the sea off the rocks there. I love Zante- it’s so much more beautiful than it’s party reputation suggests.

So news for me we had twice mashed sushi for our evening meal .Not being a fan of sushi as it just tastes of the sauce / condiment i was surprised after many many times that I actually enjoyed it for itself . Oh the twice mashed -well it fell off the trolley and then when the wife put it on the back seat of the car coming home ,it fell out when she opened the door .

Sounds like an episode of Masterchief

Well I've had what I'd call a good day. Had a nice lunch at my usual restaurant in Falmouth overlooking the marina. Then went to watch the new Indiana Jones film which I quite enjoyed. As I was renewing my membership card the lad looked at me and said "this is coming up as a concession". That's right I said. "But you don't look old enough". Get In!!!

Did some shopping and got the bus home and was preparing tea when the phone went. It was the neighbour. Fancy a cruise Al? We've just booked one with no single supplement going to Norway and Iceland and even stopping in Liverpool on the way back. So I've booked it. 21 nights leaving on the 8th August at a simply staggering price. It's not costing much more than it did to go room only to The Isles of Scilly for a week and I've even got a balcony. The only down side is it leaves on the night I was meant to be seeing the AC/DC and Guns n Roses tribute bands in Falmouth, which I've been really looking forward to.

The second downside is I'll need to iron some shirts. Where's Blue when you need him.lol

Interesting. I didn't think it was that wonderful in relation to its neighbour Kefalonia.
However we haven't been for 15 years or so and we're thinking of going back next year
Any recommendations on where to base ourselves ( not driving!)
I’ve not been to Kefalonia but I’ve heard it’s nicer than Zante. We stay in a very quiet place called Porto Roma when we go to Zante. You definitely need a car. I personally would not stay in the resorts and prefer to be a bit more isolated - I think the Porto Roma/Gerakas/vassilikos area is the nicest but as I said there are not many amenities and it tends to be villas and rooms/apartments rather than big hotels at that end of the island although there are one or two - the Porto Roma Hotel and the Belvedere are small. I think it’s such a personal thing why we like holiday places so I am always reluctant to recommend to be honest.

Brilliant. 21 days though? Hope they've got WiFi. We can't have radio silence from you for that long!

Me too - I’ve not been home long but already I’m taking cheeky looks at flights. May have to skip going again this summer as our only son is getting married in September and we have a lot on leading up to the wedding. We had vague plans to buy a property in Greece when we retired but health issues and Brexit put a stop to that. I’m actually glad now as we get to see so many different islands when we do our annual hop.
