Good morning all. Doing overtime- only 4 more hours to go. I decided to start when the cat wanted to go out. After that I shall mostly be watching cricket. It's a hard life!
Have a lovely day.

That is so cool - a mini hen do!Morning all, I hope you are all well. Very successful trip to Trafford Centre last night so son and heir is finally all kitted out for his wedding in September. Now I have to turn my attention to Mr P, but as we’re both retired we can do it at a leisurely pace. I had to face up to my age too last night as I tried a pair of gorgeous shoes on for the wedding but the heels were so high I could barely stand up in them never mind do a full day and night at the wedding. So sad, they really were a thing of beauty.
I will miss the game today as there is more wedding related stuff going on. I’m going over to Liverpool for the baby hen do which is basically a party at future daughter in law’s parents in Allerton for the small gang of under 10 year old nieces (with a couple of nephews) who in true 7 years old going on 17 feel miffed that they can’t go to the hen do. It was going to be all women but we decided we needed the men there for transport and other logistics . Obviously they are all delighted. Especially son and Mr P who will miss the game. By the way I promise I won’t go on about the wedding from now until September.
Enjoy your Saturday everyone
Should be a great days cricket.Good morning all. Doing overtime- only 4 more hours to go. I decided to start when the cat wanted to go out. After that I shall mostly be watching cricket. It's a hard life!

In my middle years I used to say “ Youth is wasted on the young, retirement is wasted on the old “ . I couldn’t have been more wrong . I too love being retired, ok things take a bit longer to do but that’s ok , I’ve got the time and the choice of what I do. Something different all the time. Tomorrow I’m starting the “ Scottish Six Days Orienteering event”, running in 5 events on different days in my age group , M70, . There’ll be about 3000 people in total , maybe 80 or so in my age group,so all retired too I guess, but I recognise some of the names who are still going from when I started orienteering 44 years ago.I love being retired ……
Sounds great BL , have a wonderful time.In my middle years I used to say “ Youth is wasted on the young, retirement is wasted on the old “ . I couldn’t have been more wrong . Im just partaking for the enjoyment, I haven’t orienteered for over 2 years and you lose the skills needed to concentrate on your map and navigate when running through the forest ie I’ll get “ lost” a lot ! One of my oldest friends is coming up from the south of Scotland to stay with us during the event, so it’ll be a good chance for a catch up as I haven’t seen him for about six years.

Totally agree about retirement, best thing I ever did but I found that I needed a new routine to replace the old one
That and the fact that you get free ale lolYes, you do need hobbies or whatever which is why I bought into the pub….

Yes indeed, if you do nothing you stagnate. I’ve often said to friends who are about to retire that I do different things now compared to when I first retired, you evolve with retirement .Sounds great BL , have a wonderful time.

Yep, plan early, work out what you need to retire on, and go for it. I really enjoyed my job when I retired but travel/family circumstances meant it was the right decision. It’s not always possible to do , but nobody lies on their death bed and says “ I wish I’d have spent more time in work”!All you retired folks have reminded me that I haven't got any forecasts back about my partial retirement enquiry. Must chase up on Monday.
That and the fact that you get free ale lol
Thank you - I’m 5 9 so I really get thatMorning all. Cloudy now after a lovely start but still feeling muggy. I had a great time at the cricket @jazzy . Peterborough won by 7 seven wickets and I even recognised most of the England legends, if only by name. lol Sister and brother -in- law were there with their son &daughter and grandchildren so was quite a family gathering. @Val P feel free to keep mentioning the wedding, regulars here will tell you I love weddings. Shame about the shoes though. I had to wear fairly flat shoes for our daughter‘s wedding, partly due to age but mostly down to the fact that at 5’ 8” plus high heels I would have towered over most of the wedding party! @blue1948sounds like a great afternoon in store, will you make it onto the podium.? @jazzy have good time at the jazz festival and Mexican meal.
Have a good day all and good afternoon’s cricket @anjelikaferrett .
