Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Good morning all on this fine day here in Hyvinkää .I hope all had a good night and wake afresh for the new day ,no wedding day hangover heh @Val P hee hee.
The olympics were rained off yesterday so a quiet day under cover for us ,it is a lovely drive from us to there so thaat was the highlight of the day that and getting home ,we are both home birds .
I thought the blues were bad yesterday ,how and why he puts Maupay on I have no idea ,if it is a confidence thing then he is having it drained out completely .We didn't deserve to win at all,an unbeaten run pre season is an accolade that means nothing and covers the cracks ,sorry fissures .Branthwaite looked at home on the wrong side and has to be better than the others as an option ,if he doesn't get played he will go possibly across the park .That would be a stupid mistake .
It is alright giving the "anyone can see we need a forward " line but is must be hard to sign anyone with ambition to play at the top where we are at now and they are ones we need ,not mercenaries after a last good payout . COYB

Events not taking place yesterday seems to be a theme running through the thread.

Well @Val P didn't go to the wedding, @blue1948 didn't pull a hamstring at the Olympics and I didn't go to the jazz festival.

Well it wasn't Val or Blues fault but definitely was mine .

So I applied for and received via email the free tickets to the festival and the plan was to do a couple of hours ( about the most Mrs J could stand ) and then go for a Mexican.

So about 2pm I printed off the tickets and read in disbelief that the event was at the Floral Pavilion in New Brighton, not the one in Southport!

Needless to say no jazz but we still had a nice stroll around Southport ( yes the tide was out and the pier was closed) , bought some LPs and had a lovely Mexican. Ah well , stupidity or senility? You decide.

So bit of yoga today and then the cricket.

Have a lovely day everyone.

Good morning. The lie in has been abandoned due to the furry feline overlord. She stayed out all night and came in when daughter finished her night shift. She (cat not daughter) immediately demanded that I got out of bed to pander to her needs. She wanted me to brush her. We bought a brush for her a few months ago and she loves it. Every time she comes in, she flops on one side and waits to be brushed. If you don't comply she miaows at you. So I got up and brushed her. She has now gone to bed with daughter! Can I add that neither of my children were as spoiled as this cat is!
I'm currently having a cuppa and thinking about @blue1948 's puzzle.

Morning all. Continuing the events not taking place theme our planned trip to Liverpool has been called off. ASLEF have announced further action. Coupled with the fact that part of our journey involves TransPennine Express, not the most reliable company in the first place, would most likely have meant cancellations, overcrowded trains etc.we took the decision to cancel the bookings rather than risk it. I’m gutted but it wasn’t meant to be and worse things happen at sea…
Anyway the sun is shining although it’s quite breezy again and I have an afternoon tea in a box for later, a gift from some lovely friends.
@Ducans elbow Nora was robbed!
Struggling with @blue1948 puzzle at the moment .
Have a good day all.💙

We once went to a cup game at Notts Forest ,a few drinks too many on the way but just enough time to get parked and walk to the ground -it was Notts County's so we had to run full of booze .We wondered why there were no crowds for a cup tie !

Yes closer than us to them .What about the word ???? I told the wife I thought you would get it .

Sorry, I’ve been the pub, just had Sunday dinner, checked in here and now I have a bottle of red wine in front of me and will shortly be listening to music, I’ll try and think about it tomorrow but I expect Anj will have already got it……

Is it me or is it that the older we get the more sentimental we are
Yesterday in a 2nd hand record shop I found a pristine copy of Judie Tzuke ,Sportscar.
Me and Mrs J played it to death back in the day.
About 10 years ago we went to see her at the Phil. She had bloated up massively , had lost her voice and was terribly shitty with the band. Illusions shattered.
So, played Sportscar 3 times since yesterday, it still does it for us and has surely one of the best lines ever ...." I don't care who you are but you're not putting your car in my garage".
