Hence my “ Dundee Marmalade “ quote, they don’t grow oranges in Dundee just make the marmalade thereOnly 1 of them is Scottish, the rest Irish.

Fave Irish bands: The Boomtown Rats, The Pogues, Thin Lizzy, The Dubliners, The Undertones, The Saw Doctors, The Wolfe Tones,
U2 are OK - I thought The Joshua Tree was a brilliant album and I love the song they did with Johnny Cash called The Wanderer - but that is more from loving Johnny Cash than an alliegance to U2.
I told you it cabbages the brainBefore university challenge x
I know I can start an argument in an empty room but The Pogues are not an Irish band……..

TBF Pete. Shane McGowan is 100% Irish and in this band he's the only one that matters. 99 out of a 100 people couldn't tell you the name of another band member without looking it up.Can’t help it Fred, always been a stickler for accuracy and the truth, which is why my wife would never ask my opinion about a new dress or the ‘does my bum look big in this’ horror questio
but I do love the Pogues ….
Terrible shame the way Kirsty MacColl died saving her eldest son in 2000…God bless…….

Pete. You are obviously a very clever and intelligent guy, but I don't know what sort of reaction you were expecting to get from your children. Of course they were going to be vehemently against it. How did you leave things with them mate? I appreciate it isn't my place to offer advice on such things, but if you've left things up in the air then I really think you need to sit down with the two of them again as they're bound to be anxious about your intentions. You need to put their mind at rest if nothing else.Talking about my wife though I’ve had an ‘interesting’ week. I had listened to and gave a lot of thought to comments raised in here since I mentioned intentions for if my wife died before me. Anyway, I discussed this with her, as expected she couldn’t remember but gave me her current views anyway. I also discussed it with one of my sons and my daughter (the other two lads living abroad). The feedback was very similar to that given by the ladies on here but in more forthright language. My daughter said don’t be stupid, we know how much you love mum but we also know how much you love us and the grandchildren. My son took a more balanced view but said that when we made that promise to each other we hadn’t brought our children and hence our grandchildren into this world and that we both owed it to them to stick around for as long as possible. So that was the kids view. My wife also said that we were young when we made our promise, had never discussed it since and then pointed out that while I wished to be buried where we now live and close to the kids, she now wants to be cremated and her ashes spread across the hill/mountain of the Blorenge just above her home town. @roydo was probably right and I shouldn’t have discussed it…..
