Happy Anniversary to you and Mrs P.
I caught the last half hour of this,it was very good. Soul dominated my late teens, and my mates used to regularly go to The Wheel in Manchester , I couldn’t afford it then . For me the “ Northern Soul” tag came later, I’ll make a point of watching this properly on the iPlayer.Thank you - Singing my heart out to every song - loving it
After the bad start it has turned out well for you fella.Hi folks just checking in. Made it to Rotterdam yesterday , Schipol is pants now we’ve left the EU ! We managed to get out n aboot and see a bit of Rotterdam, but were knackered by evening so settled for a meal nearby , sitting on a veranda watching the world go by . Today was very busy . Caught the train to The Hague. Mrs bl wanted to see Vermeer’s “ Girl with the pearl earring “ painting, so we made a bee line for it. I knew of it of course but little about it previously, it lived up to expectation, just two brush strokes created the “ pearl”. A quick check of some more sights in The Hague and then caught a tram down to Delft , a wander around , late lunch listening to music from the “ Jazz Festival Delft” , moved into the main square to listen to some more Big Band music ,sitting in sunshine drinking a beer. After a walk around to other music sites we returned to the square only to be caught in a deluge , about the same time Wolves were scoring . We decided to have our evening meal in Delft too, and caught a Joni Mitchell tribute act in another square before heading back to Rotterdam , a long but excellent day.Delft has definitely moved high onto our list of favourite places visited.
@jazzy , I don’t know if you’re aware of or have been to the Jazz Festival Delft, it’s super the number of events going on, not a lot of “ pure jazz” I suspect but very good.
Been to Delft many many times but not been to Jazz Festival Delft which is a new one on me. Been to the North Sea Jazz Festival in the Hague and Ahoy ( Rotterdam ) too many occasions to remember. Have a great time.Hi folks just checking in. Made it to Rotterdam yesterday , Schipol is pants now we’ve left the EU ! It was wasn’t it - the singers were excellent. I was a little young for the Wheel and did. my first all-nighter in 1975 at Wigan Casino. Travelled all over the place in the late 70s and early 80s to all-nighters Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Dundee, Hinckley, Stafford etc. it was a really great time in my life. Don’t much listen to it now tbh but enjoyed hearing the ones they did tonight although they were the more commercial tracks.I caught the last half hour of this,it was very good.
