Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Forgot about the funeral. We never have them on a Sunday here so always seems a bit strange. Don't drink too much. I know from personal experience what you guys are like at funerals.
Funerals on a Sunday are just a normal Mass for us really. I don’t expect to get into the church for this one though so umbrella at the ready.

Definitely no drink for me today and I will drive to make sure of that.

Good morning all. It's cold and clear here today. A bit of frost but gorgeous blue skies. I love these kind of mornings. I'm so sorry @Armaghtoffee for the sadness you are feeling and the devastating loss to the families involved.
No plans today although daughter has requested a Sunday dinner- we haven’t had one for a while so I'll do that. What's the stance on Yorkshire puddings here? In the North East they have them with every kind of meat. My mother in law used to serve huge ones as a starter. This came as a big surprise to me on my first visit - I was wondering where the rest of my dinner was!
I'll probably go to the gym later this morning.
Have a good day x
Good morning everyone, Anj, my old man was from Leeds, my gran used to have a roast dinner on the go most days and it was always a big yp with gravy for starters.
I've discovered making them in the air fryer is quick and easy, even Mrs LT was impressed and she's hard to please🙂

On the alcohol debate, I mostly drink beer, vodka or bacardi. Rarely drink at home unless we have company and I'm not a huge wine fan.
I'm a very happy drunk, definitely a lover ( as in everybody is my bezzie mate) not a fighter. I think loud and stupid might be the best description of drunk me.
In the same glass? You're hard you Anj.

Thanks Anj.

I didn't intend that post to pull on the heart strings. It's just how it is. There will be lots of people in a much worse situation than me on Xmas day. I'll still celebrate the day and have a good time. I'll be absolutely fine.
We will all be on here Christmas Day I’m sure.

Speaking of which, anyone else starting to feel a bit festive or just me?

Have already started watching the Christmas cooking shows for a bit of inspiration.

Morning everyone,

Great win yesterday but unfortunately I still feel pretty yuk.

I spent some time researching the car crash that @Armaghtoffee referenced and which is causing him so much sadness , terrible, really tragic.

I feel a lazy day today but I could never lay in bed all day ( well I guess I could if I was really ill ) but will need to keep clear of mum for fear of infecting her

So I think it will be a day of sport on TV pour moi.

Tintin is an amazing dog. Really empathetic with medical conditions. Mum has a a bad knee and when he gives over he goes straight to her and starts gently nudging her knee.

One of Mrs Js many sisters died from pancreatic cancer and stayed with us before she she passed. Tintin was only 1 then and would take himself off to her bedroom and so gently touch her stomach with his nose.

Now he is just laying next to me cuddling me , which he rarely does.

Such a gorgeous boy.

Anyway have a lovely day everyone.
Hope you’re feeling better soon

I'm also looking forward to BrettAngels escapades in the kitchen which has become an annual custom for me now.
You're right. I'd forgotten about that.
Some "interesting" culinary creations there.

Christmas will be interesting here this year. Cousin and his partner announced that they'd like to spend Christmas with us this year (I'm thinking, he's thinking it might be mum's last).

So they arrive on 23rd December and stay until mums birthday on 20 January. Mrs J won't be cooking meat , they should realise that by now but mum ( me ) will probably do them a chicken for Xmas day.

Anyway it sounds a long time but we ain't stupid so we are taking advantage of them looking after mum and the animals by jetting of on a Caribbean cruise on 30 December. So on New Year's Eve we will be supping rum punches on Grand Ainse beach in Grenada - perfect!

Morning all although it’s nearly afternoon. Just catching up and so sorry to hear the news @Armaghtoffee, it sounds like you have a good community around you and a strong faith and I hope that helps you work through your grief.
All this talk about alcohol- I’ve always enjoyed a drink but never what I would say to excess, however I find as I’m getting older that I have very little tolerance and one or two drinks is enough to send me usually to sleep, or I go the other way and want to sing and dance (obvs depending on where I am).
i always look forward to Christmas and love the build up to it, however the actual event is very bittersweet for us as believe it or not my dad died on Boxing Day, my hubs dad died on Christmas Day (same year ) and my mum died on Christmas Eve. So I have my moments but I have always cracked on with things so as not to upset others and to make sure my son had only good memories.
I have toyed with the idea of going away for Christmas and love the sound of rum punch on the beach but haven’t managed it yet

Been there mate. In fact I still have the little box of spices that Cal bought from the beach vendor.

If you've not been to Grenada before Jazz be careful of the taxis. They're not as well organised as other islands. Many of them are more like minibuses and the drivers like to fill them before setting off. It's a bit chaotic we found.

Could strongly recommend a Christmas cruise Val. We did 6 and they're great fun.

Three of them were to The Caribbean and they were the same people who went every year and we made some great friends. They don't do it anymore.
