Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Yes I get that. Don’t they have one at Ormskirk Hospital ? I’m sure they used to.
They do Val. Ironically it's also the base for the District Nurses so I find it hard to reconcile that they aren't employed by the NHS.

Anyway just had a visit from the DN. Lovely young lady but unfortunately only just qualified. Definitely not employed by the NHS.

She will discuss mum's case with the matron and then decide how to proceed.

Fortunately no nasty smell or adverse indications although she was shocked how big the wound was.

At least now we are " in the system".

I’m not sure about the fully funded bit but I agree that poor management is a big issue at all levels. When Mrs bl had her recent spell in hospital I was bewildered a few times about why certain things were happening so poorly at a local level. Simple changes to practices and procedures would have made such a difference. It didn’t need a bunch of management consultants to come in , just some rethinking and simple changes would have improved things for all at the Ward level.
Correct. And it’s interesting to note that each NHS trust in England spent an average of 1.2 million on management consultants in 2021/22 (could be a year either way can’t remember from the research paper I read) without any great cost saving (because that is the only way they are brought in no matter how they dress it up as QI).

At least it’s a start, I hope she improves

Anyway I’m butting out of the NHS discussion now, as a. I’m on holiday and b. I get too wound up defending its good bits as well as acknowledging improvements need to be made. So here’s what I’m up to right now. Have a great day all 💙 ✌🏻 🇬🇷

Anyway , thought it best to report back that our friend @Barnfred 55 has been abducted by the Glasto thread. Rumours abound that they may let him out in time for a G&T on Friday.

Honestly his knowledge of contemporary bands I've never heard of is very impressive. Now I wonder how many of them have women in them ? 😂
It'll be far easier (and quicker) to name the ones that don't

Good morning all on this sunny day .I hope all are well and had a good night . The latest on "our " Ford kuga I have told about the water leak that took over three months to correctly diagnose ,well after one week of no problems when we went to the hospital as my wife dropped me off I heard a scraping noise from the front so I stopped her and asked her to turn sharply both ways a, there was a clicking sound ( CV joint methinks) back to the ford garage as this would not be under warranty .They lifted it up and said yes it is the inner joint 970€ please .
I said no thanks I am going back to the dealer ,when we went back he offered to cancel the whole transaction ( to get our money and old car ) but as we live out in the sticks I said that we need a car now. So whilst they checked for themselves he loaned us a Captur hybrid ,we have had this for ten days and counting ,when we called in yesterday as we had given them a week to find a suitable alternative he told us it is in their opinion the gearbox ! 000's € .So it seems we dodged a bullet with this one ,they have now found a similar car and are having it brought to their showroom from 200kms away .
Have a great day all COYB
For someone mechanically minded you don't half have a lot of bad luck with cars

I agree BL some joined up thinking would be a good start.

Mind you it's not just the NHS that needs an holistic approach. The number of times I see a section of road dug up for Open reach and then 3 months later the water board dig up the same section to replace pipes.

I know they are different companies and I'm not advocating mass nationalisation but FFS.

Morning all, it's a cold one today.

Well my crockpot concoction was very nice indeed, very spicy as well but not overpoweringly so. I got a generous 6 portions from it as well, so good value for money.

That's all I've got for today, have a good day everyone.

I know how bad the NHS is these days Jazzy, as you know I've been on a waiting list for over 2years now to see a specialist. Still can't get an appointment unless you ring at 8 in the morning, an then there's the dentists, they just don't seem to exist for NHS patients anymore.
Chapeau on the cooking T.

We are getting some heavy duty experts on here now...

Fred with music
Blue with cars
T with cooking

and to top it off we've got the Judith Chalmers of Wigan as our travel expert.

Are we blessed or what 😂

Good afternoon all. I'm pleased your Mum got some attention @jazzy. Hopefully there will be some positive action now.
It is freezing here today, pouring with rain and like winter. The last two days of sunshine have fooled us all into thinking summer was here.
Quick update on the newly weds. They spent three days in a lodge on a nature reserve and then went to a Michelin starred restaurant in Nottingham. ( Mr F and I paid as a wedding gift for them) It's what they like to do and apparently it was amazing. Health wise all seems to be OK, everything is progressing as it should. Chris sees the dermatologist next week.
I really want to book a holiday - we were supposed to go on a cruise with our friends on 29 June but cancelled when Chris became ill. We could rebook that but it has gone up several hundred quid since our first booking and, having looked , there are so many cheapish all inclusive late deals around, we could go somewhere exotic for 10 days for about £1000 less than the cruise - with your drinks included. Incidentally has anybody been to the Cape Verde Islands?
Enough first world problems from me. (This is why I do overtime!) Have a lovely evening
