Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Evening everyone, just waiting for the football to start. Another cloudy day and a thunderstorm at teatime. Summer is due to start at the end of next week, they tell me - we’ll see. Had a text yesterday afternoon to say blood test results were normal, no further action needed, hooray! Another text two minutes later, please ring GP regarding your blood test. Surgery shut on Thursday afternoon so sent email, asking for clarification as I had received two conflicting texts.Got another text this morning thanking me for filling in pre-triage questionnaire (I haven’t) and a clinician would be contacting me. Email received later confirming the GP will ring Tuesday. Confused? I certainly am.

Do you know what’s happened to our young goalkeeper Jack Barrett mate? He was on loan in Calgary?
Met him in a pub the other week , nice bloke but the goalie the Cavalry have is probably the best in the league, so unless he gets injured can’t see him getting much playing time

He did have the attention of a few Canadian girls around him :)

I know absolutely nothing about this Friedkin guy. From the name alone I'm guessing he's Anerican which I'm not overly enamoured with but at least something seems to be happening.
Safe to say he will run a more effective commercial operation than Moshiri ever did. The money coming into a club of our size was never good enough and any new owner will find easy wins there.

Off to the West Coast of Ireland today, Sligo to be precise. While the purpose of my visit is Armagh v Galway tomorrow, it is also somewhat of an Everton pilgrimage. Both Seamy Coleman and the legendary Dixie Dean played for Sligo Rovers and I will make a point of visiting the ground later. I never miss an opportunity to have a nosey around the local football ground but this one is always special given our heroes who have graced the sod.

To add, the GAA ground, Markievicz Park is named after the first female elected to Westminster. That she was in prison at the time makes it all the more remarkable.

All I need now is the weather to work with me on my history walk.

Here is to hoping the first mail was the one ,they couldn't organise a beer party in a brewery.

Good morning all on this sunny day here .I hope all are well and had a good night ,no post from @peteblue is a good sign that a well deserved lie in is on the cards .I am moving wood inside today and splitting the logs we have been drying to be placed inside or if they are still too damp then outside to be moved again later .Have a great day all .COYB

Morning all,

Well potentially good news on the Everton takeover. Never heard of Friedkin before but looks like the guy has actually got the money and has experience running a football club so fingers crossed.

Watched the opening game of the Euros and have to say it was the inept display that we've come to know and love from our Celtic cousins. Comedy gold but I wouldn't be surprised if that buffoon Southgate follows suit. Not sure how such a talented bunch of players that England have can play so badly. At least Scotland have the not unreasonable excuse that their players are crap.

More problems with granny. District Nurse failed to turn up yesterday to change the dressing. Good job we have a superb local pharmacist.

Amazingly we had 3 hours sunshine yesterday and it was warm enough to take my sweatshirt off so managed to cut the grass and have a cheeky beer in the sun. Mind you thunderstorms forecast for today !

Well whatever you do have a lovely day everyone.

Really interesting post AT.

I always thought that the despicable Nancy Astor ( anti Semite and Hitler supporter ) was the first female elected to Parliament but yes she was elected in 1919 the year after Markeivicz.

She sounds like a very interesting lady , only escaping the death sentence due to her sex and 2 years later elected as an MP despite serving a life sentence.

Enjoy your visit amigo.

As Markeivicz abstained from taking her seat she is frequently airbrushed from British history.
