Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Thanks guys, it all went well for the family. It was obviously a very emotional day but it went like clockwork and I was very proud of our staff who had arranged everything, one of whom said to me you can stop stressing now Pete. She was right, I left earlier than I expected in order to check on my wife and son, sat down and went straight to sleep having barely touched a pint at the wake. I’ll see the family later on today just to check everything is ok.

Have a great day all, see you all later…….
Glad it went well mate, and you gave your friend the send off he deserved and to your staff for stepping up to the plate

Good that it all went well Pete. Credit to your staff who helped you all through the day with their calm diligence. Nothing beats a community pulling together in a time of need and it sounds like your boozer is the hub of that.

I should be used to it but I spent my afternoon engaging with a rather cantankerous individual and it made me ponder those people who seem permanently in a state of scowl. We all know at least one, never any humour from them and always a complaint about something or someone. Soul destroying vibes all the time.

So glad my train journey home from Belfast to Dundalk took the full hour 15 mins to just let me decompress with my music and the scenery. And now onto better things and celebrate the weekend (up until 5.29pm tomorrow) 😀

Hi folks.I can't remember where I got up to in the trying to get home saga but we spent a second extra night in Cape Verde before finally getting to Manchester at around 5.30 last night. We were home just before 11.
The overall verdict on Cape Verde- if you want a completely chill out holiday then go for it. If you like shopping, cute beach bars and restaurants don't bother. Boavista is a desert. The landscape is like a Mad Max location.
Couldn't fault our hotel - loads of activities for you to do. From darts to drawing, dance to bingo, aqua fitness, yoga. All there. The food was good. Lots of fish and salads. Also many cakes. Given the Type 2 diagnosis I didn't indulge in cake. To my total amazement, when I got weighed this morning I had gained half a pound. I don't feel I deprived myself of anything so I'm well chuffed with myself.
Was back to work today - that was a reality check!

….i know @Barnfred 55 is our forum Gin officiado. I’m on holiday in Cyprus and although I don’t mind the odd glass of gin, Mrs Eggs likes a G&T much more than me.

Anyway, this is the all inclusive gin list at our hotel;

….and the head barman (George) buys the gin for the hotel chain and is a devoted expert on the subject. It’s all about the ‘botanical mix’ to George.

Anyway, he says Tanqueray10 is the only gin in the San Francisco ‘sprits hall of fame’ @LinekersLegs will concur. Germany is overtaking England in world awards for their gin, and Monkey’47 and Elephant gin are world leaders (I’m sure he said Elephant gin is only available in 50ml bottles).

Purely for research I have worked my way through the list. Mrs Eggs really likes the Scottish gin, Botanist, but whilst I did like the Japanese Roku which was served with fresh ginger, I did agree with George that the Elephant gin was very pleasant but my favourite is the Monkey ‘47.

…on the subject of mixers, Fever Tree Mediterranean is the way to go with gin but this specific soda has just won all the awards and is one to watch;

I rarely drink gin but Tanqueray 10 is by far the best I’ve tried.

Delighted to have you back safe and sound. How's Rupert 😂

Good morning all on this dull day here .I hope all are well after a good night and have a fine day today .A certain person was absent last night when we showed our gins ,probably partying with his neighbours . Not much going on until the match later .Have a great day all.COYB
Early morning walk and groundless pre match confidence flowing 😀

Maybe just maybe they will string together another performance like the 85 mins v Bournemouth and bring home at least a point.
