Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Ahh that isn't fun. If only they built a tunnel or something so you could just go by train or if that train could carry something like a coach, you could drive there or go on a bus tour...pipe dream I know but someday it might happen. :p
I'm looking forward to the day they build boats big enough to take your car across. ?

Is it because they are half dressed most of the time Anj?
I'm clearly giving the wrong impression here. I'm like Mother Theresa in real life ? ? ?! It's because I'm a closet fantasy/sci fi nerd and I love Ray Harryhausen's work. Not that I knew who he was when I first watched is as a kid. Was supposed to go to the exhibition at the National Film Gallery in Edinburgh last year that was on to commemorate the centenary of his birth. Got cancelled twice because of lockdowns.

Thanks, My Dad hasn't been too good of late, he's very slightly improving but it's slow going, I'm going down to Merseyside Mon- Thursday for the next 4 weeks to look after them whilst my brother's in Thailand.
Best wishes to your Mum and Dad. They beat us by 3 years! We were married in 1959, your parents must have married in 1956. Didn't even know her indoors in 1956, I was in Singapore and Malaya - National Service.

I still look forward to Christmas even though my kids are well grown up. There is something very special about Christmas Eve. My kids, bless them, still indulge their crazy mother, by agreeing to play a board game on Christmas Day afternoon. Last year was the Liverpool edition ( city not FC) of Monopoly, this year I've bought the new edition of Logo. My Trivial Pursuit is so old it stil mentions the Soviet Union and is older than them so we're not allowed to play that. lol

You're doing the right thing with the nephew. You've kept your Mum safe through all of this so I would be telling him to do one as well.

I'm going to watch a rugby match on Boxing Day. Darlington Mowden Park v North East Barbarians. It has become a bit of a tradition but unfortunately borne out of sadness. Three years ago today my friend's grandson passed away. He was 8. He had neuroblastoma- the same thing Bradley Lowery had. They had been fundraising to send him to Barcelona to take part in clinical trials of a new treatment but sadly never made it. They set up a foundation with the money they had raised and it is now helping to fund research into children's cancer. His Dad plays for Darlington so this match every Boxing Day is a charity event
Hope you all have a lovely Christmas. It's been a rough old year for most folk but some far more than others I'll be raising a glass to Messy, I'll be thinking about you @Barnfred 55 . Have a lovely time with the neighbours. Love and peace to you all x
We usually play a board game in our house on Christmas Day, too. One year, when the kids were quite young, it all kicked off playing Game of Life after accusations about cheating. The board was flung in temper and the pieces flew everywhere. There are these tiny little pegs that are supposed to be your kids that you put in your car, which I was still finding in remote parts of the room in the Spring.

The following year, I bought Monopoly cheat mode, where you're actually encouraged to cheat, but it was a bit crap really and not as good as the original. Seems cheating isn't as much fun when it's not really cheating.

This thread moves fast how on earth do you busy people have more time to post than me sat at home ffs lol
I know mate. This thread used to move at a gentle pace, but I'm currently about six hours behind everyone else. I'm a bit like this, at the moment.
