Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Hi everyone,

Yesterday was a very difficult day. I was at the hospital all day.

The good news is that the 2nd transfusion has boosted mums hemoglobin to normal levels but the bad news is that she has lost a ridiculous amount of weight and despite maintaining a decent appetite weighs only 36 kgs.

Even worse , overnight mum became delirious and was hallucinating. She was having imaginary conversations with my wife who wasn't with me. Calling the cat and trying to stroke her , asking the nurse if she was my wife's sister , accusing people of stealing her jewellery, the list was enormous. I cannot begin to tell you how distressing this was for me.

Despite being there virtually all day the Dr was too busy to discuss mums condition with me so I will go back again today and try again.

Stick with it Jazzy, you can only do your best. My mum went through something similar and I hate to say it but you need to prepare yourself mentally for the worst. My love and prayers are with you all…….

Don’t panic too much yet on the confusion part. I saw that myself but within 48 hours of strong meds it had passed over. Your Mum is probably very dehydrated as well with the weight loss which won’t help.

What an absolutely awful experience for you. It’s beyond distressing. I know how I felt watching my Mum go through a similar situation. It was horrendous , on one occasion she was convinced I was keeping her prisoner and pleading with the nurses to help her. She also had an argument with Winston Churchill over the setting up of the NHS which went on for ages - I can smile about that one now but at the time was far from funny. I do so hope that your Mum is better today.💙

Thanks so much G

I think Quince perish too quickly and for that they are not commercial .Just for you :- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bread_cheese
I beg to differ, they last for eons, they are a very hard fruit. If you put them in a bowl they act as a natural air freshener due to their scent.

*contact me for all your quince needs, reasonable rates.

I watched a program on TV in Kent and they gave that as the reason we don't see them in the shops . Ah I have googled it and it was Medlar fruit I was thinking about ,sorry .

Up to the City shortly for the final game of our league campaign against Derry. Even a win today doesn’t guarantee our top flight status so it’s one of those hateful days of fans tracking other results too.

Paul Heaton is playing in Armagh tonight and I will be keeping an eye out for him at the game as I know he likes his sport. Didn’t get tickets alas but such is life.

Hi everyone.

Just got back from the hospital.

Mum was initially sleeping which is good because she hadn't slept for some time.

When she woke she was complaining of being in pain. I quizzed the nurse and it transpired that they still hadn't given her the pain patch which she should have had on Friday so I kicked off ( very quietly but very assertive) and hey presto 5 minutes later it was done.

When mum eventually woke she wasn't as confused as yesterday and no hallucinations . Nurse said can we have your phone number in case there's a problem......FFS it's on her records, they phoned me on Thursday to tell me their was a problem with her blood test.

Honestly words fail me

Anyway she was a bit better but hadn't eaten so a small comfort but I'm taking it.

Just got back from the second test event. Didn’t think we’d get tickets having been to the first one but got an email from the club saying we could apply. We sat in the North Stand for a different perspective. It finished on 65 mins to test out evacuation procedures. Limited food options but happy to see a reasonable selection of pies 😂. I loved the statement at the bottom of the screen that says 2k calories are needed for an adult- but no calorific values against the food. Guessing the blue toffee doughnut is way over that.
