Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Hi everyone,

Yesterday was a very difficult day. I was at the hospital all day.

The good news is that the 2nd transfusion has boosted mums hemoglobin to normal levels but the bad news is that she has lost a ridiculous amount of weight and despite maintaining a decent appetite weighs only 36 kgs.

Even worse , overnight mum became delirious and was hallucinating. She was having imaginary conversations with my wife who wasn't with me. Calling the cat and trying to stroke her , asking the nurse if she was my wife's sister , accusing people of stealing her jewellery, the list was enormous. I cannot begin to tell you how distressing this was for me.

Despite being there virtually all day the Dr was too busy to discuss mums condition with me so I will go back again today and try again.
Sorry to hear this mate. Hopefully these delirious symptoms are only a temporary thing but the quick unexplained weight loss doesn't sound good. Fingers crossed for you Jazz.

Thanks Fred.

Just back from the hospital.

Mum shows great improvement.

She was bright , lucid and in less pain.

Hospital want to discharge her but I said no , not until she can get up , get dressed and go to the toilet unaided because quite simply I couldn't give the level of care that she currently needs.

Still waiting on the scan results to ascertain the underlying cause of the blood loss ( and weight loss I guess) and that is almost certainly bad news.

For now it's just a question of her getting the best quality of life that she's got left.

Thanks Fred.
