Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Evening chums,

Today was a bit more challenging on the mum front.

Scan results seem good. Nothing sinister just the usual degenerative damage that you would expect to see in a 97 year old.

However when mum was told that she's not coming home until she is strong enough and / or until a care plan is in place she kicked off big style shouting " I hate it in here " and refusing to eat her food.

Honestly it was just like a child .

Isn't life fun at times.

That's really good news about the scan. Your Mum is my new hero - I would be exactly the same! I totally understand how it was not fun for you but I'm in awe of her spirit.

If you make it to 97 I think you are entitled to have a Princess moment 😀

Great news on the scan result though and even better to read of her unflinching spirit.

So pleased the scan results seem good. Your Mum sounds like a girl after my own heart, good on her! I do feel for you at the same time though.

Challenging indeed for you, but your mum has still got her fighting spirit which is great .

97 Kicking up a fuss in hospital ,it is on my bucket list ! It is so good to have your mind at that age ,yes she has her moments but as AT says she is entitled to . I hope you are a bit more at ease yourself seeing her kicking off .Just bring her favourite food in and she can be home as soon as possible . Well done Mum.

As I work presently, I can hear the buzz of lawn mowers around me and that is always a good sign that Spring has indeed sprung.

Got back handy from the hospital ( mum continues to make good progress and can come home when a care plan is agreed by the local authority) and had time to cut the grass.

My lawnmower is loud but I'm surprised you could hear it across the Irish Sea.

Must be a brisk westerly breeze at your end.

Any timescales on the care plan in terms of setting it up and also duration? I’m guessing/hoping it will be permanent.

The exact same scenario played out with my mother. Took about two weeks, but I think the benefits far outweighed the wait. Nurses came twice a day, a dietician came and gave nutritional advice and a menu plan. Later on when she had trouble eating food we were given many boxes of ready to drink multi vitamin nutritional shakes. When her condition deteriorated we could ring both her doctor and her nurses 24hrs a day. I couldn't fault the care that was given, and of course all free. I shudder at what people in America would pay. Hope it all works out for you.
