Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Morning everyone, I hope you’re all well. Great news about your mum @jazzy - a bit of a strop and an assertive child are a good combination and I hope it’s not too long before she’s back at home.
I’ve had a lovely week so far making up for the weeks of grandparenting I missed. Took the family out for lunch at a lovely pub not too far away (Eagle and Child, Bispham - you might know it @jazzy ) and carrying on my new love of Guiness 0 too. Apparently I split the G! I have heard this so much but was afraid to ask what it meant 😂. It’s a good job I have my son to educate me in these things - only this week when I’ve been watching the new series This City is ours have I realised why my son thought it was hilarious when I asked if he wanted any lemo with his JD. Who knew it wasn’t lemonade- only me apparently. Yesterday afternoon was spent pushing the pram around the beautiful west Lancashire countryside in the sunshine with a brief stop at the park.
It looks like another sunny spring day outside and I hope everyone will enjoy it 💙
Would you recommend This City is Ours? The reviews I am reading seem less than complimentary.

And congratulations on splitting the G. I must practice harder starting from tonight.

Good morning all on this dismal day here .I hope all are well and had a good night .I want to get outside but it might rain soon which i assured doesn't bode well when using electric tools. I have embarked on a garage clean which means getting shut of the Jag ,a quad bike and a dinghy .Too old to get under one ,to get onto the next and to into the last one ! I tried the Jag yesterday and the thrill wasn't there ,the quad has never worked despite all my efforts and the wife wants rid of the dinghy as we never use it ( that is the royal we ) .
Have a great day all COYB

We’ve seen 2 episodes , it’s got a “ Kin” feel about it , it’s ok so far . Nothing really bad about Liverpool yet, mind you the 2nd episode is set in Spain . Accent attempts are no worse than the Shetland accents it’s the local knowledge that causes the frowns.

We really enjoyed it, it’s a good storyline and the soundtrack is brilliant. Although he has a role type I think James Nelson Joyce is a great actor, some of the others maybe not as good. We watched all episodes over a few nights and the outcome was difficult to predict (for me anyway). Yes I would recommend it

There is an ongoing murder case in Belfast that involves drug links in Spain and Liverpool as it happens. Not hard to see where the writers get their inspiration from for these TV shows.

I suppose I should mention that splitting the G with 0% Guiness at 440 mls is not as impressive as doing it with a pint
Now now, you split the G and that’s all that matters. I must say, @jazzy describing this feat to @Gwladysover as ‘just a big gulp of Guinness’ does somewhat take away from the skill level required. You either have it or you don’t, and you Val most certainly have it .

Born in Walton, he must be a Toffee.

Watched the first episode last night and enjoyed it. Didn't really notice the soundtrack tbh which is unusual for me as it's usually the thing that stands out.

I happen to agree mate. But given that the original is regarded as one of the finest from a genuine legend, and many believe inspired a whole new music genre (New Romantics) you realise just how brilliant that cover actually is.
It’s an instantly recognisable song but the cover has added a new tapestry over the top of it. A re-imagined version rather than a simple re-hash.
