Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Hello all another busy day here .I hope all are well and enjoying the festive occasion . I took photos of my quad bike to put it up for sale and I am darned if I can upload them ,I have been on the site for years registered the whole kaboodle .But it won't let me post unless I add a registration number -but it is not registered for the road ! To make things worse there are other ones for sale without being registered for the road . Have a fine day all and not too many eggs ,save them for Sunday .COYB

Hi everybody. This moving house lark is hard work. Mr F and I haven't stopped for about three days - bagging stuff, sorting it, moving it to our new house. We even managed to cut the grass in the new place this morning. We're both having a well deserved tea break right now. I reckon we've done most of it now. There's a man with a van coming on Tuesday to take the big stuff.
We had a night out with Charlotte on Wednesday to celebrate new beginnings for all of us. We went to the all you can eat Chinese buffet in Durham ( not a patch on Liverpool Chinese restaurants but still nice). I took these pictures as we walked along the river. Castle I the foreground, cathedral in the background
Tomorrow afternoon we are going to a 100th birthday party - Mr F's auntie. The question is what do you buy someone who is 100?20250416_180323.webp20250416_175925.webp

Beautiful pics. Looks a nice spot.

Moving house is so stressful and it’s something I will never do again.

Jeez, a 100th birthday present isn’t easy but I find a book is always a well received gift. A local history one perhaps?

Where did she live her life Anj?. A book of old photos of that area will go down well. You often see that sort of thing in charity shops so it shouldn't cost you an arm and a leg either 😀

I've only ever lived in 3 houses. The one I was born in. My first house with Cal. And the one I'm in now. And even I would say moving house is not recommended. 😀

Great pics, Anj. Brought back some happy memories, I love to visit there again. 100 years is some achievement- not sure I’d have the stamina.. I don’t think you can go far wrong with a bouquet of flowers as a gift,

Maybe a delivered afternoon tea? Does she like a tipple? - a nice bottle of something maybe? Flowers also good

I never left the County. Moving house was hard enough but the idea of not having sights I knew was beyond me 😀
I have lived most of my life in this area, as did my grandparents and gt grandparents. When we were first married we bought a house five miles away but I couldn’t settle so back we came. I’d love to move from this house but finding another one in this area at the right price is impossible so here I’ll stay.

I’ve lived in Wigan all my life and many generations before with occasional people marrying in from other places and enriching the gene pool (hopefully). We’ve been in this house for 36 years. I have always wanted to move and my husband has always wanted to stay. I’ve now given up on the idea and he thinks it might not be a bad idea. Like @Gwladysover the places and houses I would move to now are ridiculously priced so unless we downsize we ain’t going anywhere.
We will be getting ready soon to go to the game. I’m a bit disappointed that they have moved the time of the last game to 12, it makes everything rushed. Don’t think we will win today but looking forward to seeing what we do against them.
Have a lovely day everyone 💙

Good morning all on this fine day .I hope all are well and had a super night . I have lived in 12 different homes and two countries ,a bit of a fly by night ! I am not confident today but we will see ,I just hope he gives a run out to some fringe players when we are 3-0 up . Have a great day all COYB

I think Blue defo gets the prize for moving the most distance.

Anj moved what , about 100 miles , I moved 300 miles and Fred 50 miles further than me but in the opposite direction.

I guess the big question is where do you consider home or perhaps put another way where (geographically) is your heart?

Mrs J has often asked if we should move ( back in my case ) to either Devon or Cornwall. Initially I thought we I might like that but when I really sat down and thought about it I realised that everything that I ( and she) love and enjoy is here in the North West. It's not that surprising, after all although born in Plymouth I only lived there for 22 years and have been up here for 42 years.

I'm sure you will have played the game of what would you do if you won the lottery and where would you move to. In all honesty I'm not sure we would move anywhere else.

Anyway, like you Blue I have no great expectations of today's game. It's far more important for City and we are safe and the season virtually over. That said it wouldn't surprise me if we got something today.

Quite cold and cloudy today and no particular plans.

Have a lovely day everyone.

Interesting point @jazzy ,where is home ? I have three kids in the UK so can never cut the cord ,I also had a fine house .
Here in Finland I find the quality of life so much better but that is partly due to the fact that I live in another fine house and being retired I get to do much more with my time so yes it is home for me ,which is actually a shock to type as I will always be a scouser . I made my decision based on the question would I wish to live back in the UK and the answer is no but I did enjoy driving up from @Barnfred 55 's to Wigan ,the places I passed are special ,Cornwall ,the cotswolds and the Black country .I do miss odd bits mostly the Blues .
