Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Cheers mate. Yes Peter was my very good friend. He sadly passed away on Christmas eve having had a severe heart attack a week earlier whilst playing golf. I've actually made a couple of posts on here about it. I actually know one of the Oakes brothers too.

Peter was a great blue and an even greater guy. His wife Chris's family, the Edge's, were all good Blue's too. The youngest,Tony, used to play for them and was absolutely gutted when the club let him go at 18.

What forum was that on mate. I'd like to have a little read of it.
Sorry mate didn't realize you made a post about Peter, great guy I played footie with Glynn Oakes he was a good goalie and a tough lad, it's on a facebash page not sure if you are on FB, Speke past and present is the one

He's definitely culpable.
The constant shuffling of the batting line up and bowlers isn't working. Doesn't seem to able to set a basic field up to contain runs or use his bowlers to contain a batsman, lock down an end and restrict scoring. Haven't looked anywhere near good enough for quite a while now. Thing is, I don't see anyone else who would make a decent captain in that squad.

Absolute bottlers to a man
Correct mate we're very poor, not many characters in the side either which keeps things ticking over on overseas tours.

Love it. I was 19 in 1980. The fashion was unreal. Rara skirts. What was that about? I frequently went out in clothes that would not have looked out of place on stage with Spandau Ballet! I also actually did go out to some punk gig wearing a bin bag as a dress, electric blue tights and clumpy boots. I had to hide the whole ensemble in a large fuschia bush in our front garden so my Mum didn't see what I intended to wear! Got changed in the bogs of a pub on the way. Thought I was so cool. In reality looked like a right divvy!

Whilst driving back down this afternoon I tuned into Radio Merseyside as you do, they were doing a ery heartfelt tribute to Janice Long which was really uplifting rather than sad. One of the songs they played was Liverpool girl by the lead singer from The Icicle works, I immediately thought of you Anj and thought you might like it.

That's brilliant. And probably 95 % true in my younger days! ? Maybe about 70% now! Was sad about Janice Long. She was a real trailblazer for women in broadcasting.

That's brilliant LT. Ian NcNabb was, and indeed still is a musical genius. Still making great music and has a hardcore group of loyal fans all over the place. My brother in law's best mate is his roadie and we used to go and see him occasionally when we were back in Liverpool. He also used to roadie for Aussie Pink Floyd who were also great live.

Didn't even know she'd died until just now. Didn't even pick that up from LT's post I was too busy listening to Liverpool girl and didn't get the connection.

Just googled it. Christmas day. So sad.

I'm living in a bit of a bubble. I rarely watch any news these days.
