Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

As has been explained by @jazzy Z cars is our theme tune and as for 'strikes up' that's another way of saying 'when the tune commences'
Believe me Sassy if you're a proper Evertonian, regardless of where they are in the league and whoever the manager is, the hairs always stand up and I even get emotional as soon as z cars starts, it's even better now it's been embellished by the sirens IMO although whenever my phone goes my mum thinks WW3 is breaking out.
Never imagined it could be bettered but The siren has been a real improvement on it . I was lucky enough to be there the first time it was heard at goodison when bellew fought and its really become part of the tradition now . It’s funny how many outsiders might disparage the anthem its still something very special .

@Sassy Colombian if you’re ever lucky enough to visit Goodison the first time you’re there and you hear the siren then Z-cars I honestly don’t think you’ll ever forget it . For all I feel like I’m falling out of love with Everton at the moment I’m not sure I’d swap that second for anything in the world .

Her indoors just got back from her hospital appointment. There is a meeting this afternoon to decide on treatment. Probably a biopsy but also a heart op as they think there may be a connection with a heart problem. They are going to phone when they have made their decision.
The waiting is always the hardest part of these things. Always best to know what needs done and just focus your mind to that.

Hand on heart, I place my total faith in the medical professionals now, be it physical or mental health. People who have devoted themselves to undertake the best of training to look after the rest of us.

Mrs M is in good hands and I will think of you both in my prayers tonight.

I remember when they beat Scotland years ago (1990) all the JOCKS where like, Costa who? Your job offer sounds awesome but only do it if it feels right mate. I love helping people when I can and the aspect of my job where I get to support and mentor students is very rewarding but tbh I am bloody knackered from it and a bit run down after doing it for a good few years now, Id like to look for another job doing something way less stressful but can't see much out there at the moment.
I'm sure there would be a warm welcome for you in Glasgow.

Z cars is the music that the Everton team run out to Sassy.

It comes from a police TV show called Z cars filmed in Kirkby ( suburb of Liverpool ) in the 60s.

That plastic shower at Watford have appropriated it and also use it as their run out music but it's ours.

@jazzy. Hope it's a good prognosis for the dog. Fingers crossed
@larwhat a great surprise for your grandson. I was thinking of going to that one when I saw that there were general tickets on sale. I'll ask my son if he fancies it. You're right about Z Cars I still get goosebumps when I hear it at Goodison. My first match was also a loss. 1975 v Fulham FA Cup.

After reading your posts regarding Z-cars and how this Evertonian tradition makes you feel, I couldn't resist searching for a clip so I went on YouTube (of course) and found these videos and now I understand what you mean. I can only imagine how as a child it must feel to be in the greatness of Goodison park, surrounded by fervent Evertonians, listening to this tune as the blues enter the field, it must be so magical! I hope I get to experience it too!

Simon, this would be the kind of position that I would truly enjoy doing, and I know I can be good at it just because I also love helping people. I'm also very passionate about providing access to higher education to minority communities in the area where I reside. Enrolling in College can be a very daunting process for many students, specially for Latino students who at times have to deal with language barriers and Residency requirement. So recruiting this segment of the population and assisting them through the enrollment process has always been one of my main objectives for working at a public community college. But at times given so much of yourself can be indeed very draining, especially after one does it for so long. Thus I can relate to your feelings too and I understand the desire to do something less stressful. Is the job market in the UK not good for search of new jobs at the moment? In the US there is a lot of job available right now. I was reading a news article that stated that more than 4.5 million Americans has quit their jobs in November so the job market at the moment is looking very favorable for those looking for jobs. I wasn't looking for one but I may be getting one, but if not then it will be Goodison and the z-cars later this year :D

Hopefully you will like this comparison Sassy and not think that it's too trite.

When me and Mrs J toured India we visited the Taj Mahal in Agra. Agra is a tip but nothing and I mean nothing can prepare you for the jaw dropping beauty of the building. Despite the fact that we have of course seen countless photos of it nothing can prepare you for the awesome beauty when you see it for real.

@Harryflashman have eloquently explained when the sirens ( new addition ) signal the start of the theme tune and pipes and drums kick in and players emerge from the tunnel and the crowd erupts there's nothing quite like it.

Many Evertonians have Z cars (without the siren) as their ring tone.

I can assure you that when you will get to Goodison you will live it even ic you hate the football!

I’ve always said, less so the last couple of seasons mind , but I feel so privileged to be there when I hear it as at that moment I genuinely wouldn’t be anywhere else.

I have Z cars as my ringtone. I was in a shop when that dirge about walking alone was playing and my phone rang - I purposely let it ring - childish for a woman of my age but couldn’t resist.lol
