Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Ok so, as all you lovely people know I came late to this beautiful thread.

I read Karl's original heart rendering post , a couple of posts from others and then skipped to the then last 3 pages . I was hooked , amazed by the honesty , fortitude and bravery of Messy and the incredible support shown to him and I've been here since.

However I promised myself that I would one day catch up with the whole thread and read every post and page that I had missed.

I started that today after I dropped the dog off at the vets and whilst I waited to hear the outcome.

So far I'm up to page 45. I've learned so much.

From @Earwigjoe going beyond the call to get Everton to arrange a special night at the Burnley game ( thank god it was one of the few that we won and he saw a very special goal ) to @Gwladysover falling in Peterborough and being badly injured ( hope you are fully recovered now ), and, @Barnfred 55 hating Everton playing 5 at the back ( as with everything he's right of course ).

And so much in between but always , always the amazing attitude of Karl to what he knew was coming and the incredible support that you gave him. The posts were sad and life affirming in equal measure. They genuinely brought tears to my eyes.

You really are wonderful people every one of you - the best of the best - even Foreverblue92 who wanted to buy Messy a pint even though Karl said he couldn't drink - despite the incessant nonsense that he posts about Benitez lol ( seriously only joking ).

No more novels for me until I've read the rest of what I missed.

I salute you all.
I too was a late comer, I wish I could have got to know Karl before he passed but his legacy of this thread is a testament to the man. I like the vibe of this thread and shows people can be civil and supportive online .

Thanks also for accepting me and my whinging about pain.

You're right Sassy, I'll never forget my first game at Goodison in either 67 or 68 and we lost that 0-1 against Leeds but it didn't dampen my excitement, it's the same excitement I get every time Z cars strikes up, it never goes away.
Spot on LT . I've been really pissed off with Everton particularly after the crazy appointment of Benitez and almost reluctantly went on Sunday but as soon as Z cars start you get right into it , can't help yourself. It gets me every time , just a shame we are so crap on the pitch.

Her indoors just got back from her hospital appointment. There is a meeting this afternoon to decide on treatment. Probably a biopsy but also a heart op as they think there may be a connection with a heart problem. They are going to phone when they have made their decision.
Very best of luck to your wife with the diagnosis and treatment. My wife has had 2 heart ops both at Broadgreen Hospital but about 25 years apart , the last one about 5 years ago.

The advances that they had made in surgical procedures and recovery in that period were incredible. I'm sure that your wife will be in safe hands.

Whinge away. Scousers love a good moan! It's in our DNA!;??

I do seem to digress but on the soup theme ,when I moved to Finland I found a herb that was mentioned in old books but I never encountered in the UK it is Lovage and I am convinced that is the difference between Heinz Veg soup and the rest .Sorry about that and I hope all are well .
Mrs J uses fresh lovage in her soups. We grow it ourselves !

Yesterday was catching up with old friends which was good. Bit more of that today plus seeing some family.

I'm streaming Friday's service live for those that can't get there. I got the link through last night and there's loads to send it to so that will probably occupy my morning. Out for lunch with the lovely lady I've been staying with, then this afternoon I'll need to read through the draft eulogy the celebrant has sent through to me. That will no doubt be very emotional. Tonight it's drinks with more family and friends.

Anyway I'm taking up too much of this thread. You take care and if you feel tired then just have a sleep. I'll catch up again with you later mate.
Fred , I never realised that Cal's passing was so recent.

It makes all the support and kind messages that you gave to Messy and continue to give to all on here the more remarkable.

Top man, you fella.

This in all essence is an offshoot from the depression thread, Messy kicked it off rather than fill that particular thread with his subject matter.
I feel that was more him thinking of others but in hindsight it has fallen perfectly as a tribute thread where we can continue in a manner which he would have wanted and somewhere where he will always be fondly remembered.
As a consequence this is now a place where If people want to have a moan they will get sympathy if it's serious and sarcasm if it's not?
