Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Random update but had a lovely day today. We had an Anniversary Mass for my Mother in law, weren’t able to have a funeral last year due to Covid etc.

It was a celebration of life, plenty of laughs amongst the sadness and a nice reception after with a bit of music in our local.

Lovely atmosphere, did it as best we could in line with restrictions and it was brilliant for the family to see such warmth from the community.

Lateral flow first thing tomorrow morning ?

Sounds a fitting tribute for your Mum in law. Hope the lateral flow test is okay.

Hi Everyone ,

I'm just about to compose a much longer post but firstly to those ( @anjelikaferrett , @Barnfred 55 , @blue1948 and @Terrarian - desperately hope I have missed anyone ) kindly asking about my dog Blue and Mrs J ( I'm really sorry I can't do the multi quote thingy that Zat and latterly @Sassy Colombian specialise in .... it's wonderful news.

The lovely vet lady Hilary says that the lesion that she saw on the original X ray and which she thought was an aggressive bone cancer has not changed shape at all in the X rays done today and she concludes that the lesion almost certainly/ definately can't be bone cancer. The little fella is still hobbling a bit but she concludes that it must be arthritis ( which is shown on the X ray ) . He is 14 or 15 after all and the pain is controllable with meds.

Mrs J had a telephone consultation with the GP and he has prescribed some strong anti biotics which she is taking already. The course only lasts a week and she is reassured that she will be fine and able to travel.

So many , many thanks for your kind words and wishes.
I'm so happy for you and Mrs. J about the news regarding your doggie, that she has gotten stronger antibiotics that hopefully will make her feel much better soon and that you actually may make it to the Caribbean. You are rocking today with the good news, Jazzy :)

You're right Sassy, I'll never forget my first game at Goodison in either 67 or 68 and we lost that 0-1 against Leeds but it didn't dampen my excitement, it's the same excitement I get every time Z cars strikes up, it never goes away.
It will be the same for him regardless of the outcome, which based on you all record of going to Everton's first game then it could be a lost lol ;)

BTW, what are Z car strikes?

How nice that you finally got to have a celebration for you mum to remember her. Hopefully the test comes clear tomorrow ?

Sassy, when you have your interview, ask them if you can provide references by email. If they agree then let us know the address on here and we will turn their inbox red, we'll have it smoking.
Very best wishes for your interview.
Her indoors just got back from her hospital appointment. There is a meeting this afternoon to decide on treatment. Probably a biopsy but also a heart op as they think there may be a connection with a heart problem. They are going to phone when they have made their decision.
Awe, thanks for the offer and the wishes dear @Methuselah

I hope everything goes well with the next treatment chosen for Mrs. M. We are definitely thinking of you and her, and wishing her a speedy recovery. xx

Good evening, friends. Taking a quick break to catch up on some post and say hello. It has been madness for me today at work after weeks off, since 8 am I answered over 60 calls from student so much that my throat is hurting from talking non-stop. Now on my way to get my daughter from school to take her to the orthodontist for an appointment, then I need to come back home and guide her though a report she is finishing writing regarding Costa Rica then once done with that I will finally have time to work on my cover letter while cook dinner. Sometimes when I have busy days like today with work, cooking and with my daughter, I wonder if I'm doing the right thing about pursuing a full time job, why is it that I am getting mom's guilt? Anyway, got it go. Have a lovely night everyone. xx

Z cars is the music that the Everton team run out to Sassy.

It comes from a police TV show called Z cars filmed in Kirkby ( suburb of Liverpool ) in the 60s.

That plastic shower at Watford have appropriated it and also use it as their run out music but it's ours.

That's lovely. Good that you were able to celebrate your mother in law's life in a fitting manner. I think the lack of proper funerals, collective mourning, grieving and remembering was one of the worst things about this whole pandemic.

As has been explained by @jazzy Z cars is our theme tune and as for 'strikes up' that's another way of saying 'when the tune commences'
Believe me Sassy if you're a proper Evertonian, regardless of where they are in the league and whoever the manager is, the hairs always stand up and I even get emotional as soon as z cars starts, it's even better now it's been embellished by the sirens IMO although whenever my phone goes my mum thinks WW3 is breaking out.

I remember when they beat Scotland years ago (1990) all the jocks where like, Costa who? Your job offer sounds awesome but only do it if it feels right mate. I love helping people when I can and the aspect of my job where I get to support and mentor students is very rewarding but tbh I am bloody knackered from it and a bit run down after doing it for a good few years now, Id like to look for another job doing something way less stressful but can't see much out there at the moment.
