Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Love Oasis, Stop crying your heart out is a favourite and has helped me through some difficult times. I have already sorted the details of my funeral and am having ZCars but the string arrangement. Your comment about the pouring rain made me smile. At the funeral of a friend as we waited outside the crematorium just as the hearse bearing him passed by - out of nowhere came a freezing rain shower, he would have enjoyed the joke and I’m not sure he hadn’t pre-arranged it?.
Sorry messy, slightly off-thread but Gwladysover's post reminded me. Many years ago, I went to the funeral of a guy I worked with for many years. The day of the funeral was a real miserable, cloudy and rainy day. At the church service his two daughter's aged about 16 and 13 gave a reading. They went to the pulpit and the elder daughter went first and the youngest second. As soon as they got in the pulpit, the sun came out (for the first time that day) and sent a beam of light (like a searchlight) through the stained glass window straight on to the two girls.
As soon as they had finished, and left the pulpit, the sun disappeared together with the beam of light, and we never saw the sun again for the rest of the day. Will never forget that.

My favourite band is Oasis so all 3 songs by them.

Cast No Shadow on the way in

Listen Up mid through

Live Forever on the way out

I contemplated z-cars but decided against it. 8 of my mates will be involved in carrying the coffin and some flowers in. The 6 on the coffin have already confirmed. Just 2 more to ask as I wanted to make sure it was allowed. In a way because of the banter I have with the lads I want it to pour with rain so they get soaked. However in reality I don't as they are allowing me to do my thing and it will be an amazing last journey.

I'm no more courageous than the next person I just like to type a lot but thank you your praise means a lot to me.

I needed to do it so at least I can say goodbye to people in a way that I would like. Apparently quite a lot of older terminally people do it these days and it's much less rigid in structure.
Thanks for sharing these songs. I wanted to ask what they were but sometimes I’m hesitant about inquiring too much. I’m the kind of person that’s very open and willing to share a lot about myself but I know everyone is not like that so if I ever I ask more than you want to share don't feel like you have to answer.

I was listening to songs earlier today and the lyrics are very touching. You done well with your music repertoire for when you fly away. But like one of the songs say, you are gonna live forever, within us ?

Great song choice my man.

Listen Up, Rockin Chair and The Masterplan are the songs that Noel really wished he had put out as singles.

@Sassy Colombian were Oasis big in Colombia/US? I’m guessing you have heard of them but but wouldn’t know much of their stuff.
Some of their songs were popular in Colombia, Cast No Shadow was definitely one of them. But I had not heard the other two that Karl mentioned.

Yeah its always difficult to know how much someone wants to share. I'm pretty open to sharing most stuff and sometimes I forget. Live Forever is arguably the most popular Oasis song and is my favourite. Oasis even had a song called Colombia. Feel free to ask anything you want. If I don't want to answer I will ignore the question or just sat I don't want to answer.

Now I'm going have to search for the song and the reason they wrote it lol

Okay, thanks for letting me know how to good about it. How are you feeling tonight? xx

Morning everyone. I've been to the undertakers this morning to try and sort my funeral out so it's exactly as I want it. I don't feel my best today but we all kind of guessed going out yesterday might take its toll. I'm not religious so I'm having 3 songs of choice. Between song 1 and 2 I'm going to have a nice eulogy that I will write and hopefully there will be a family member wanting to read it. Between song 2 and song 3 we will have a eulogy that me and my friends will write. This one will hopefully be funny but I will also try and keep it respectful as my 92 year old Grandma will hopefully be there. The man in the undertakers had a good sense of humour so I think I will be in safe hands. I'm going to try and read a few forums so I can get back up to date.
I think you are so strong Messy. An absolute star and a great role model to all of us. Have a peaceful night my friend and I'll catch up with you properly in the morning. It's been a long day

I'm sorry to hear that, hopefully this weekend you will have some good days that will make up for today. Sending strength your way and a big kiss ?
I endorse this.
Some things go beyond mere football.

But if there was an award for 'Poster Of The Year' @messymascot would get it (even though I don't know you from Adam - courage my friend.)

And (no disrespect to all the other ladies on here, you all deserve medals for wading through this testosterone)
You would be in 2nd place, for leading by example in the on going struggle to drag us out of our big macho hermit crab shells we hide behind.
*retreats back into macho shell having blown the whole touchy feely budget for the year

I just like getting my words out and not keeping them buried posting on the depression thread started the ball rolling. It's a bit anonymous for most people so they can be free to say what they really want to say. I think about what I type when in this thread same with the depression thread. I always want to articulate the best I can as it could be crucial to the state of mind of the person I'm talking to. There are many better at raising people up than me and should be recognised. They are the top posters in my opinion. I used to use Facebook exclusively for getting my feelings out but people were being to pushy with expert advice. Once I found the depression thread the people in there blew my mind with good advice. I ignored the close Facebook advice but found the rest easier to take as the people were a step further back.

@blue1948 here it is.

Basically yesterday evening I called an ambulance as I was having a few problems. They took me to hospital and started treating me. They managed to get my position back to normal for me and I have just arrived back home. I feel better and going to stay awake if possible and have an early night. I've got some more medication to take but luckily it fits in with my schedule so it's not going to be too much hassle. The biggest plus side is I've got home to watch the match tomorrow. Normally when you go in on a Friday the best case scenario is Monday morning.

In my position you have got to give yourself the best possible chance. I've seen too many people slip away too quickly when they hear something they didn't expect. I keep an open mind at all times so if it's bad news it doesn't hurt as much as it could have. If its good news I enjoy it but still temper it with caution. At the start of this year it was looking like I might have a couple of years left, then in July I was told to start looking months instead of years, my latest update is weeks rather than months. Weeks is quite ambiguous so who knows.
