Exactly - he has big chums in the press and our fans are , as you say , gullible - just witness the discussions on the main forum.

Benitez is very skilled at this - I wish his coaching was as effective.

Well I am going where I don't want to go in a football discussion on this thread ,nevertheless I accept it was from the press conference and out of FSW 's mouth . I too loved Lucas but we all know life is hard and sadly if Rafael is correct then that seems to be it .

I don't believe it is a chicken and egg situation Blue, although I will concede that the relationship between the two has become untenable, and ultimately one of them has to go. So Digne leaving at some stage is now inevitable unless the board has a remarkable and swift change of heart on Benitez.

But that's a different discussion for another day. What is maddening about this is that whatever has gone on between Benitez and Digne should stay within the club, not blurted out to the press. He's been dropping little snidey comments about his attitude for a couple of weeks now culminating in this disclosure today. There is only one reason for this and that is to deflect blame away from himself and on to the player, because he knows that Digne is one of our best players and popular with the fans. It is totally unprofessional and the last thing I expect from any Everton manager.

The chances are that Digne could still be with us come the end of the transfer window, and if he is, large portions of the fan base will be against him because of the managers comments today. It's just wrong in every way.

Plus I'm scared of going off topic. I like to try and lighten the mood sometimes and there's just zero tolerance in that regard. Better off in here.

2 things.

Papa Carlo left and the big bad Benitez with whom he had previously crossed swords replaced him.

He loves Ancelotti and I was slightly surprised that he didn't follow him back to Madrid.

And , surprise , surprise Benitez had previously scapegoated James when at Madrid , so he was never going to stay here.

It would have been lovely for the fans to have seen him at Goodison. That sublime touch and pass for Richarlison's goal at the pit.

But we are where we are . Digne is the latest in a long line to fall foul of the buffoon. In fact it's no longer called throwing a player under the bus , no now it is you've been Benitezed.

Add to this that Benitez has also considerably reduced any fee we will get for Digne by stating that he wants to leave.

No concern for the well being of the club at all, all about his ego and self image.

Blue I absolutely love your insights into Finnish life so if you don't mind , a couple of banal questions...

1. I've been to Norway and was amazed how expensive everything but particularly eating out was. Is it the same in Finland ?

2. Do you get British TV or too far away for European satelitte ( We got it in Western France )

3. What is social life like in rural Finland ? Do you have pubs etc?

Really fascinating to get an insight into other countries
