Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

This is excellent news, I hope Mrs. M continues getting the best of care and that she returns home soon.

I wished I had your neighbours, you are really fortunate. You know that don't you. Not so fortunate about the water all over the floor but hopefully all that gets fixed

I'm excited about both signings, I think these two players may have the chance to have their careers reignited with us

Duncan, I didn't realize you had such talent. Did you see anything else about me on that cup of tea ;)

I have noticed Everton has a lot in common with Shakespeare's tragic irony not just with Digne but with so many other outcomes. I also think he would have thrived and he would be an asset that didn't need to lose.

How are you, Curtis? I have been so busy lately that I haven't been able to check the mental health thread but it is great seeing you interacting with us on this thread.

I see, another reason not to invite me on the cruise ;) lol

And yes, here I'm again with my multiquoting but at times I can't help it.
I expect nothing less from Zatty Sassy. Think I'll call you Zassy from now on. lol

I don't think Alli was a one season wonder BTS. You forget how long he's been at Spurs and how young he burst on the scene. In his first 3 seasons he got over 20 goals/assists per season. His last 2 seasons under Poch were curtailed by injury but even in his last he got 8 goals and 4 assists from 25 games, many of which were from the bench. Plus he was a guaranteed starter for England for 3 years. He had 37 caps by the time he was 22 which compares well with all the young starlets we have today. Having said that, it is a risk in so far as we don't know whether he can recapture that form. But if he doesn't, the financial aspect of the deal seems to negate a large part of that risk. It would be interesting to hear what his salary is. As far as I'm aware nothing has been leaked on that yet. There is a player in there though if Lampard can get it out of him. As regards VDB, it's a loan so no real risk, He looked a player at Ajax. Both of them score goals from midfield which is something we have been lacking since Fellaini left.

I'm not sure how often we'll see both of them in a starting line up as part of a midfield 3 although I think VDB is quite versatile going by his Ajax days. I think Frank will want to have more ball possession, which i don't mind as long as we're productive with it and don;t end up like Martinez mark II. What it does give us is more options and, provided Mykolenko and Patterson can get up to speed fairly quickly, it gives us a nucleus of around 15 players that most will be happy to see in the starting XI or coming off the bench.

Fully agree on Branthwaite by the way, and I think he will get more game time under Frank.
I'd agree with a lot of that Fred. I didn't mean Alli was a one season wonder as such. After a good first season at Spurs, he had a fantastic 2nd season where he could do no wrong. He scored something like 22 goals and his performances were excellent. He was being talked about as a superstar and maybe it went to his head a bit. Since then, for me, his form has been in gradual decline.

His performances for England have generally been pants and left me wondering why he kept getting picked. It sounds like I don't rate him, but there's clearly a very talented player in there. Let's hope the change of club revitalises him. I think Lampard could be good for him, as he was a similar type of player.

As for VDB, he did look a player at Ajax and it will be a refreshing change to have two goalscoring midfielders when we haven't really had any since Fellaini left. His signing isn't a financial risk, but there's an element of risk in using our last loan spot on a player who's struggled to establish himself in the PL, and if both he and Alli flop we could still be in relegation trouble.

Having said all of the above, I do think that Alli and VDB will prove to be excellent signings for us. They're talented footballers, which our midfield desperately needs, and they'll both want to get their careers back on track. Like Lampard, they have something to prove, so should be highly motivated. By the end of the season we could well be describing their signings as a masterstroke by Lampard. Let's hope so.

You should give me credit that I began my posting answering everyone individually, but then I just went for my pragmatic ways. I would also like to highlight that unlike Zat who multiquotes but answer once for all of his quotes. I have an answer for everyone except that I put it on the same post for practical reasons, k :p

No need to have to explain yourself to me Zass. ;)

Yeah we'll see mate. I actually believe that, with Benitez gone and DCL, Richy and Yerry back from injury we'd have been climbing the table anyway. If Frank can get a tune out of these 2 and young Patterson, we could end up top half. I'm actually excited about us again mate.

Yeah that tragic nature was further emphasized by the fact he made assist when we played Aston Villa too but like you stated it applies to club in general

Thanks for asking , I haven't been ideal still trying to navigate the sorrow with the aim of not being hobbled by it. A work in progress for sure. I actually would of never participated on this thread If it wasn't for the thoughtful invite from Anjelika. But I dig the material and pleasantness on this thread.
I noticed you mention an interview ,hope it went swimmingly. Regardless of attaining the position , if you can take pride in your performance that's the true gauge of success in my mind. But obviously hope you get the actual offer.

If I could I would swap heads with you, dear. I know you are not going to like hearing this but I hardly ever get any head aches so I could I would take some of your pain so you could have some relied. I hope they stop kicking your arse soon because you don't deserve it. xx

Hahaha, I sure I hope I knocked them out of the park. We will see if I did in a few weeks.
Im sure you did sass, rooting for you. As for headaches your so lucky, I've suffered bad headaches intermittently all my life, migraine as well but now it's just all the time and really gets me down at times, today's been one of those days, I've had all my painkillers and barely touched it ?

Ange, I though we were the dark side that leads to the dark hole that is Colombia's National Team lol
You must be gutted about the Colombian national team, now it looks likely they won't qualify for the World Cup, Sass. I'd much prefer to watch Colombia at the WC than Ecuador or Uruguay. Had a bit of a soft spot for them since Valderrama and that mad keeper.

I was gutted when the RS signed Diaz. I really wanted us to sign him last summer and definitely had a noooo moment when I read they'd signed him.

Sorry for the delay answering back, a student call and it turned into a long advising appointment.

That was indeed tragic, as it was fans tossing bottles and coins towards Digne.

I’m sorry to hear you are still dealing with the sorrow of that relationship not working out. But hopefully in time you will find the right woman and are also able to get into a better place with your mental health. Until then I’m glad you are now chatting with us here, it was wise of Ange to let you know about this thread and the support you will find here among friends.

Thanks, that’s exactly the way I feel because I worked hard to get prepared.

I do feel lucky because migraines run in my family, both my older brother and younger sister suffer of them regularly. Although nothing like the pain you deal with.

That’s unfortunate that no even the pain killers can help mitigate the pain. Have you heard back from the doctors? I thought you wanted to consult with them about other treatments?

I am very much gutted, our chances to make it to the WC are now very slim and won’t depend on us anymore even if we get the results we will have to wait to see what happens with the other teams. What I’m the most gutted about is that we seem to have lost our identity the past few years and while we have a lot of talent, the recent managers have not been able to exploit it.

Then Díaz signing for the Reds made me so mad, because I wanted him playing for us. But I know we didn’t have the sort of money that Porto was asking, they are always trying to make a fortune on their sales and they did this winter as Díaz became the most expensive player to have gotten signed this winter window. And it seems that Tottenham are not very happy about the deal either as they had started talks with Porto until the Reds snatched him away.
