Over the past few days I have developed a dental abscess in my upper jaw. it is a recurring one that's manifested about 3/4 times before so I know exactly what it is. It's very painful, like a combination of a bad headache and bad toothache, and a couple of paracetamol i took before going to bed last night didn't even touch the sides. What little relief I got only lasted about 30 minutes at most. I haven't slept well the last 2 nights, about 4 hours on Friday and about 6 last night, and I'm used to getting a good 8 hours in normally. Luckily this morning I found some respite lying on my right hand side so I'll try that when I go to bed tonight. I've completely lost my appetite too. I didn't have anything for tea last night, and even this morning after my lie in I wasn't feeling hungry and had to force down a pastry for late breakfast. It seems my body is incapable of both fighting pain and telling me when I'm hungry at the same time. Well I am a man so I suppose that's to be expected. lol
Normally this is something I would go to the dentist with but the problem down here is that I'm not registered with one. It's literally impossible to find an NHS dental practice down here. So I'm hoping my GP will be able to sort me out with some antibiotics and some stronger painkillers that will take the edge off whilst the antibiotics kick in. They normally take about 2/3 days to start working and I'm hoping I can get it sorted before my birthday next weekend. Hopefully I can arrange everything with a phone consultation in the morning.
I'll tell you something though. It's given me the utmost respect and empathy for T who has to cope with these levels of pain on a daily basis.
