Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Lovely update Blue. Very interesting about how short your spring can be , I have to say it is my favourite season. Hope the elbows better soon.

OK jetlag can be really weird. Knackered when I got back but the slept well. Yesterday was the table tennis league's annual tournament so I had to go ( didn't play) as that's required of the Chair. Said a few hellos , umpires a few games and presented some trophies until about 3pm when I just couldn't keep my eyes open so called it a day.

However by 10pm I was wide awake and then had a fractured night's sleep.

So it feels very cold this morning, is that because it is or because I'm used to 30 degrees of heat?

Did my 2 day covid test , negative of course, so I will pop to the supermarket and re stock mum's pantry and freezer before I go back to the gym and restart my fitness regime ( not looking forward to that after the excess of the holiday).

However the holiday gave me inspiration to create a tropical garden / jungle for my mum so I'm going to start researching that. I already have a banana tree so anything is possible!

Hope everyone is well and we see the return of @Sassy Colombian today. If not we might have to start a campaign to free the Sassy one.

@fandjango great to see you working over in the middle east and @Terrarian look forward to getting an update .

Have a good one everyone.
We have started a mango from seed it is on youtube how to and it is doing fine ,it has of course stopped growing here for the winter ,in Aughton it is almost tropical so you should find plenty of plants that will thrive ,I always wanted to grow Gunnera which is a rhubarb family member but you need lots of room .Let us know your progress .Nice to hear you are back to the rhythm so quick .

Good morning all. I'm very jealous of all this talk about spring. As always the frozen north east is about two weeks behind everywhere else. I'm home alone today so I can't really justify putting the heating on just for me in one room and the cat upstairs asleep on one of the beds. So I've got a big fluffy jumper on and a blanket over my knees.(and before you ask @Barnfred 55 I am not just wearing a fluffy jumper!! lol) Pleased the abcess is improving. Hope your body clock sorts itself out soon Jazzy.

Very much looking forward to going to St James's Park tomorrow to see the mighty Toffees. I havent been to a match since pre- Covid. Just hope we don't gift them a win like we usually manage to do.

Also if you need a giggle, check into the Ask Dele thread in the Ale House. Full of random madness that makes GOT what it is.

Have a grand day everybody x

When you visit your son Blue you'll find that this is Gunnera heaven down here. Some of the established valley gardens have plants that are so big they look like something out of Jurassic Park. Everywhere I've seen them they have been in river valleys or next to ponds so I mot sure whether they need very wet soil. If it's only a small area Jazzy is doing there are plenty of varieties of palms and tree ferns that are fairly hardy in UK climate as long as you don't get too much frost.

We already have a bog garden where we grow some big Gunnera , not as big as at Trebah in @Barnfred 55 back garden but not too shabby.

Spot on Fred. Doing my research now. Provided it doesn't get below-10 there is quite a bit of choice in tropical.style plants. It is only a small area of about 20 ft x 20 ft , sheltered and South facing.

For some reason that brought back memories of the Centrefold video by the J Giels band. lol

Remember the one Anj. We were all a bit younger then.

I worked in Kendal and in a derelict garden next to the site was a massive Gunnera with leaves like umbrellas ,I had a big garden in Everton so I wanted one but it just never happened .
I used to visit an auction between Knutsford and Macclesfield that held many different kinds ,one of which was plants that were aimed at the nursery buyers not the public and I used to pick up some great bargains there .However I never found a Gunnera , because it was so cheap I didn't buy anywhere else .

We used to always go to a pub on that road between Knutsford and Macclesfield. The Egerton Arms. You'll probably know it if you went out that way regularly.

Afternoon messketeers - hope we're all well?

Still on a high from the performance and win on Saturday and my two absolutely loved it.

It was like an awakening for them, seeing an Everton side playing on the front foot and having shots, attacking etc.

I hope we take it into the game tomorrow and the boys turn up for @anjelikaferrett and the other blues going to st James. A win would be brilliant.

One more thing, I can't stop my daughter calling our new gaffer Frankie Lamppost - she's even doing it in the super Frank song, very disconcerting.

Up the toffees!

Also - please free sassy!
